Have you test driven the MS Miata yet? It's not faster than the 8... and I wasn't really impressed with the turbo lag. The S2000 is probably a better comparable vehicle to the RX8. I guess it doesn't help I've driven a Miata with an aftermarket turbo that actually pressed you back in your seat with 250+HP... Mazda's turbo is pretty weak IMO.

Thanks all for the kind words and the congratulations. I am really pleased with my choice. I may have had a few doubts at first, but they all disappered tonight when I drove home again with the top down and some Clapton playing in the CD player.

Someone asked about the insurance. Not too bad of a hit. Its $120 more over 6 months. I can deal with that. Now if they run a MVR on me they're going to find out about the ticket I got a few weeks back and that number could change

DMP my friend, if you should someday scratch that itch for a convertible (you know you still want one) perhaps I'll see you around the S2k forums.

As for the Vette, I don't have that kind of money. If I did, I'd buy a Boxster.

PS, here is one last gander at Jordan (avatar) ... just for you G8rboy :p

Funny that in your first thread that you said there is lack of feedback on the S2K. I thought they are both great on the handling and feed back sense.

Stock RX-8 has body roll and tend to oversteer. In S2K as I remembered, it is really flat and true to its turn in. You see, I love the car that able to balance the front wheel during turning in. I have driven the EVO8 and there was too much shift in the front under brake so when I turn at the same time I will tend to get more oversteer. I need to slow down and avoid late breaking.
Not in RX-8 and even less in S2K. I have let and S2K slide once and RX-8 in many times, S2K has still better control in terms of holding a slide.

It is all bias because of my style of driving. I am been yelled at by my spirited driving tutor, who is a professional driver in the local Carrera club. But hey it is my style... more like Senna than Prost (as I always said to myself )

I love your choice of cars - both RX-8 and S2K.... don't you hate that we can only have one car right

yes it felt pretty quick and is very easy to mod if i am correct with a bigger I/C and exhaust people have had up to 40 pounds of tourqe increase . So on a handling department MSM kills rx8, speed give me 2000 and the rx8 wont keep up and the thrill of having a top down and getting over 14 mpg priceless :D

I think he is talking relative to the 997 S cab. He mentioned somewhere he wants one of those.

First, congratulations to kreuznach on the S2k; gotta wonder about the color, :D but the car will be a lot of fun. When people ask whether I prefer the S2000 or the RX-8, I do always mention that I love convertibles, and, once you've got it under your skin, no coupe will do the job.

I missed my Miata too (traded it for the 8).
The Corvette is a wonderful car. My brother got a good deal on a new C5 convertible, just as they ended production last year, and there is nothing like a V-8. However, I agree with kreuznach that the driving experience of a Corvette is completely different from a nimble little roadster, and the transmission on the S2000 is often cited in the car magazines as the best in the business, unlike the stock C5 transmission, which is pretty clunky.

Kreuznach, enjoy your car, and I'll see you on S2ki!

Don't I know it. The last thing I wanted was another silver car. This one makes 6 silver cars of my last 8! I tried like hell to buy a red 05 here in Cheyenne, but it didn't work out. I'm cool with another silver one. Besides, in my head its New Formula Red

I like the silver on the S2K since it seems less common than the red and the yellow, but you should have held out for the red interior :D
