It could be the break in process that your car went thru, only 100 miles in roughly 2-3 years.
I got to think your overall cost in gas consuption will probably be a couple hundred dollars over a year if you had got a car that will get 20-22 MPG (which is most good gas mileage cars) city driving.
I would spend a couple hundred bucks to drive an RX-8 over an Impala.
This was so much different than all the other gas mileage threads

Its weird...my first tank of gas after buying the car disappeared real fast. It wasn't a full tank but was close when I picked it up from the dealer, got right at 190 miles. The next tank I got close to 300, and this last tank I was right around 230 when the light came on. My driving habits have been the same for all three tanks....45 mile commute each way to work, all interstate w/ cruise on and 6-10 miles per day spirited back road rage.
No complaints as its pretty much the same as my S4 was, although the S would get amazing gas mileage if I stayed out of boost. I just wish i could figure out why it fluctuates so much.

13mpg is totally possible in this car. first, ditch arco for sure. second, i used to live in dallas and got 13-15 mpg per tank, consistently. it was all city driving, that's why - not only sitting at lights, but also quick trips (i lived 2 miles from work). for some reason, this car HATES being turned on and turned off quickly (and i don't mean flooding). If I got over 200 miles on a tank I felt like king of the world.
I moved to Austin and now drive more, like 4-8 miles wherever I go, and it's all highway (360, 2222, and mopac) and I average 17-18 mpg!! It's all about the city driving. we forget how much gas you waste idling at a light.
I've gotten as high as 21, highway trip, pure cruise control, but I got 21 mpg, so 16-18mpg is liveable for me because I drive leisurely on the whole but I redline at least once a day, and i love the curvy roads in Austin - point is I drive harder in Austin than I did in Dallas, but the lack of CONSISTENT city driving means I get BETTER mpg's in Austin ... go figure.
