AU Fully Imported Car Outsells Locally Made in OZ - First Time Since WWI.

http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/c...103-1pjk6.html

FOR the first time since World War I, an imported vehicle has outsold a locally assembled car to be the nation's top-selling new car for the year 2011.

The Holden Commodore's record 15-year winning streak was brought to an end by a Japanese Mazda.

The Mazda 3.

According to preliminary figures obtained by the Herald, the Mazda3's victory was sealed in December when it edged further ahead of the
Commodore by about 600 sales after swapping position six times and being separated by just 20 transactions at the end of June.2011.

Huh..Are you being cryptic Charlie?

The Skyactiv Mazda 3 face-lift went on sale (October 3,2011) in Australia...slightly before NA.

So only a 1/4 of the 2011 year sales....

Europe and UK does not have any SA 3's yet....after their winter 2012.

It's not officially official yet (tomorrow) but not bad to knock off the GENERAL (Motors) with the little Mazda 3..

Some how I think this is the first and last time though for Mazda Australia...??

"To see Mazda3 top the sales charts is obviously very pleasing but what’s of far more importance is that both Mazda3 and Mazda2 won pole position in their segments against their direct competitors. For this we are indebted to Australia's private customers who made Mazda their choice in 2011” said Mazda Australia managing director Doug Dickson."

“We are indebted also to our Dealers and staff who turned what could have been a very difficult year into a solid success. We can now look forward to 2012 and the imminent arrival of CX-5 with great optimism."

You know what...i've been noticing a lot of Mazda 3's on the roads, and even the rental car companies have Mazda 3's for rent now...is this a surprise or what? Anyway, hooray for the Mazda 3 sales figures.

There are a **** load of them on the roads. It just goes to show that people will spend a little bit more to buy a car that drives well, performs well, is trimmed nicely and looks the goods.

Well done to Mazda. I have 2, the RX8 and a Mazda6 Luxury Sport. I love them both.
