Maybe Mazda can get itself out of the hands of Ford and become its own Man ,re.finance , re value itself and buyout Fords 30% stake i am afraid Ford will use its share of Mazda over borrow well in excess and drag Mazda down a deep bottomless well

Is Mazda even capable of operating without Ford? Having the $ to buyout the 30% is the first step, but since Mazda shares so many things with Ford, from nuts and bolts to manufacturing plants in the US.
I want to see Mazda independent, but I dont know how Mazda can pull it off.

They will drag it down a bottomless pit
There are rumors that Ford is considering selling off Aston Martin because it has more of chance of actually being acquired. Jaguar isn't doing much for them, I don't think the new XKs are taking off well at all.

That 18B is gonna get vaporized real quick by Ford, considering how great they are with money and the car business. Then the banks will own 1/3rd of Mazda.

I am interested to see what actions mazda takes.
but it could very well be nothing, since they're still under Ford's control.

1979 is where the collabaration began with ford.... wonder what would of happened if they didn't do their capital tie up in 79.
25% with ford, 8% with Kia, mazda's been around.

I read that Ford US for the first time had to use its assets to borrow ($10B US) as lenders will no longer give to Ford without security.
I.E.. Ford is off to the Pawn Shop.
I am not bashing on Ford because without them at the time I doubt Mazda would have continued..survived.
However Fords investment plans taking over Volvo, Aston Martin, Jaguar has only given them more headaches and returned next to nothing, apart from technical assistance and some platform sharing.
Mazda is the only brand that is holding its own.
Its becoming very serious for Ford when they have to hock the family jewels to keep going.

Volvo has been pulling its own weight. Land Rover is also doing fairly well.
Jaguar has been the big loser. Ford made huge improvements there in quality and efficiency, but the product improvements lagged those at BMW and Mercedes. Just looking at engines, Jag's are way behind the leading edge.

Ford Has borrowed 31 billion. That's 3 times its market capitalization, roughly (Ford's market cap is about 11 billion).
It is a catastrophe in the making. You are watching history unfold as an institution and family self-destruct.
Alan R. Mulally is a bright guy, but he isn't Superman.
The only real question is whether the government will actually let Ford go down without a bailout, much like Chrysler got in 1981.

Maybe if Ford had their owners pay for maintanence like we do it would help pull them out of the crunch somewhat.

Ford has been toxic too long
Mazda has survived because of efforts at customer support and decent dependable cars - because their cheapest lot leader lasted 15 years I am willing to buy their best!

Mazda like all other Japanese car makers have survived in recent times because their employee costs are only $200US per car not $2200 per car as in the US.
And their build better quality and more reliable cars, with better resale value...
BETTER EVERYTHING.
Sorry to say this but the reality is that the worker (employee) has screwed the boss for the last time, the chickens have come home to roost, we have the same problem here...not quite as bad but the blue collar worker is disappearing because other nations can do the job more cheaply, this is the reality of free (fair) trade and the "world" economy.
But then you guys and the Europeans subsides your farmers when they are not competitive...fair trade...not really...its asking the tax payer to subsides inefficient industry...even the man on the land.

I mean these aren't hand build Ferraris, but mass-produced vehicles after all.
