Ford could be forced sell Mazda to raise capital

Very unlikely IMO,

on the other hand Tata sure has a lot of money and already bought the other Ford brands.

This would be the biggest mistake they ever made, and that's saying A LOT.

It wont happen.
Too many Ford vehicles and parts are based on Mazda assemblies.
They would be gutting their own product line for a lousy $2B.

Agreed, it's looking like all of Fords new small car line is based on Mazda's.

For the sake of inquiring minds, what other company would likely gobble up Mazda if it was really on sale? TATA again? That indian company already produces lots of small to mid size consumer vehicles.

I believe putting Mazda up as collateral has already been done. But being that they are one of the only things under the Ford umbrella that is solvent it won't be sold.

If it were sold, do you guys think the sale would help or hurt Mazda? Maybe a sale could take Mazda to the next step. Personally I don't think they'll sell their stake.

Mazda would have to buy back it's stock. If it has the capital reserves, it would deplete those and they wouldn't have the money for R&D.

Mazda has much to offer Ford, but the current direction Ford is going in, now, could leave Mazda in a precarious situation down the road. Know matter how well Mazda does, if Ford continues to lose money no company under Ford's belt will survive. We'll just have to see what happens as Ford shifts its gears to increasing and expanding the production smaller higher quality cars (that people will actually buy) and hope that Ford doesn't drain Mazda dry during what will be a long process.

More like Ford will sell Volvo...

Mazda is Fords only Golden Goose, they would be fools to sell their share of Mazda....
