Maybe a polished lip on black wheels?
Flat/Matte black wheels are certainly not everyone's cup of tea. In fact I've never even considered them for any other car I've owned. Had I ended up with an STI I wouldn't have considered them and would have gotten gold or bronze. To me the simple black wheels just fit the Evo, I seriously considered some wheels with the polished lip and a gloss black but they were just a little too blingy for the look I was going for.

I wanted over 300whp from my daily driver, and that wasn't happening from the WRX unless I upgraded a lot of things, with the Evo it's cheap and easy. Even with an STI I would have had to worry about things like upgrading the fuel, turbo, and intercooler once I got to a little over 300whp. Lastly, the handling on the Evo is just a little better and sharper than the STI.

I like they way you explained it. I'm surprised that the EVO handles better. You would think that a AWD/RWD combo would perform better over the AWD/FWD based. I do value your opinion, you tell like it is. I can't wait for the EVO X, I hope I'm not let down..

I like Evo's.. too bad they don't have them in Canada. But I'm also not a big fan of that blue... maybe its the light or something. I like deep, dark blues. Even the winning blue is not as deep as I'd like it to be. But nonetheless, its a beeauutiful car. Have fun with it!

Unfortunately it will be harder for you but honestly I don't think pictures ever do the "Blue By You" justice! It's something you have to see up close and personal! Until I actually saw one I thought it was the most Gawd Awful color ever made available on any car. When I saw it in real life I wanted one that color! A little off of the topic of Ike's Evo but I don't know how many of you have ever had a chance to see the Tarmac Black Evos up close but the paint has little blue and purple metallic flakes in it. I have never seen that in any other black cars (or maybe I've just never noticed it).

I thought Subaru was more warranty friendly than Mitsu; is it just your dealership that give you warranty confidence?

Nice upgrade Ike. I hate the looks of the wing, but I can respect its purpose.

Day shots would be nice.

Prettymuch. Though I think 9/10 dealerships, regardless of make, would laugh at me if I wanted warranty with the mods I have. In general Subaru dealerships are better than Mitsubishi in my experience.

Red Devil, I just might be there and you have a PM back

I don't hate the wing, nor do I love it. I will say that Evos without it look odd to me and I think it looks best with it. The STI on the other hand I could go either way, I like it with and without.

That wing just doesn't work on that car, despite Mitsu's insistence that it has a functional role to play.

But it's not my car...and YMMV.

I said decent It's been raining, snowing, gloomy here nonstop so I got fedup and went and found the first lit parking lot late on a rainy foggy night. Plus I suck at using my digital cam, I'm pretty good with my SLR but when it comes time to use my digital in anything but good light I suck

That was from my uber phtoshop skills I had the screwy shot with the lights going crazy so I decided to mess with it and I made it look worse and accidentally replaced the original with that...

I never would have thought black wheels would look good on that color...but it does

I don't know whether to wait for a MS RX8, or get the Evo IX (or X)...

Nice car. But yeah, I have to agree that the wheels aren't good. If you had some standard silver wheels (whatever they call that finish? Like our stock wheels have...) it would look VERY nice. Congrats again on the purchase!

Already have the stock Enkeis in "that finish". I was going to use them for trackdays but now that I see the inside edge of the tires I'm considering picking up another set of Bronze or Gunmetal wheels for summer/trackdays since these wheels have my allseasons on em. Regardless, I still like the matte black wheels on the car, to each their own.

I do like that color, but it wouldn't be my favorite for the Evo. It's definately different which is a big plus, though. I personally don't like the black wheels against that body color -- looks like you're running 4 spare tires. A few chrome accents on the body and some brushed aluminum rims or something like the stock RX-8 rims would really look nice IMO. Keep the wing -- Evo's look weird without them.

Awesome car in general though. Try not to smoke every RX-8 you see. If we ever hear a "kill story" about an RX-8 beating a blue Evo we'll know it was you being generous.
