reprise of the "holiday auto" jap magazine article.... (see the image).

interesting the return of the rumor about electric assisted turbocharger.....i serious doubt about the use of "rx-9" for a 2 seater....IMHO the name is "rx-7"

still crossing fingers for an rx-9 (4 door too...)

I understand this is rumors, and speculation, but mazda has no timeline like other car makers, so this is the best for now.

BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, and even Honda/Acura you know what they are thinking 2-3 years out, BUT not Mazda, no miata news, and only this for RX 9 news.

I think it is a big mistake on their part.

At least the renderings are looking a little more to key and not something completely wild and unrealistic.

Ancient would be a better term when describing me actually .

I do hope Mazda will show their cards within the next month or two. It would be prudent. From a business standpoint, you don't want to jump too quickily but you definitely don't want to be overly hesitant in your decision making as well.

Except that, "Nagare will not feature on any future Mazda concept cars", which that concept has, so I would not even consider that design an option.

I agree with Mazmart. They also need to decide where the RX stands in their auto line. Mazda did such a poor job in their decision making in regards to the RX8, even going as far as stating consumer reviews of our car shall not be included in their overall ratings of their products. I feel a little like they refused to come to terms with their shortcomings on the 8. I hope they make a quality product from the start, this time around, and stand firmly behind it.

I'm intrigued by the prospects of an electric-assist turbo. Hmmm...could be interesting.

there is a prototype coming up in September (Maeda style: a meeting of Mazda designers is planned in Milan in september and show up of result/winner in Paris).

cx-5 or a rotary concept IMHO....

this time the concept is rumored to be "close to production version"

Like many here, I am tired of all the rumors. Something concrete like an actual prototype or official word from Mazda would be nice. The idle speculation with little to nothing as a basis has already gotten very old.

I think they will (or should). There are a lot of interesting cars coming out soon and if they don't they may find themselves too late to the party!

I remember seeing an "RX7 concept" drawing in a Car and Driver I had I think 2 years ago? There was maybe a paragraph describing the car. No solid data except the obvious: Mazda is putting a 1.6L rotary in it and fooling around with FI. So Mazda already has an engine ready on the shelf collecting dust, whats taking so long? I know attention to detail and such is important but geesh. The longer Mazda makes us wait, the higher our expectations for the car are going to be and the less likely Mazda is to meet those expectations.

The world doesn't end, it only resets. After 2012 no piston-engined car will run, only rotaries!

yea but SOMETHING from MAZDA would be a big help. i'm ok with a 2-3 year wait...my gf has a mazda 3 and depending on what they come out with, i'd love to get her into a rotary car. but if they don't give us any info, with 125k on her 3's odo, we're going to have to get another car SOMETIME in the near future. the fact that they aren't saying anything makes me think they have no idea IF/WHEN they can do it. i know they've said they're committed to it, but we'll see i guess.

(I'm with that camp that would love a rx-7 and rx-8/9 combo...one 2-seater and one-four seater to choose from!)

One source told us: “We’re testing the rotary in conjunction with technologies including an electric turbocharger.”

haha, Mazda are using Ebay!

It’s been suggested that were it not for American demand for the car, the project would have been shelved.

Keep demanding guys! we need the US rotary community! Mazda listens to you it seems....
