Final Farewell
This will be my last post on the RX8 website.
Sold my RX8...Developed the hard start to the point that I could not keep the car running. The car was a 2004 w/6-speed manual with 139,000. Car was a wonderful experience, but I no longer wanted to keep putting money into it.
Sold the car as is and replaced it with a 2008 Corvette w-Z51 handling, NPP exhaust and 6-speed manual.
Still learning to be comfortable with the torque. I never use 1st gear. Really no need too. Torque is EVERYWHERE with this car...
Take care Everyone!

Thank You...
I always wanted a Corvette, every since the C5 model. There were 2 that I was looking at:
1 - 2005 Black on Black w/ 16,500...All the options with a 6-speed manual. But then I go t to thinking about the mileage and the lack of usage. Concern about belts and hoses, just initial usage...Plus the dealership was asking nearly $35k.
2- Found a 2008 Red with 22,000 miles. All the options with a 6-speed manual. Plus he had the factory exhaust option, that I would have spent another $1700...
I decided with option number 2. Plus, GM put in 6.2 liter instead of the 6.0. This motor comes with another 30 horses, to make a total of 430. Paid $31k... What is really cool, car insurance is LESS than my RX-8. Go figure... The sound is crazy, especially when slowing down.
On a side note, the guy that bought my RX-8 was able to get it running after a couple of weeks. Replaced the starter and put in fresh spark plugs. He is VERY excited about the car and thanked me numerous times.
Like I posted earlier, the car has been paid off for almost 4 years and I no longer wanted to put anymore money into it.

Mind you, I reached my point and really just wanted to let the car go....
I was paid $1500 in cash...
It seems low, but for me, I did not want the car anymore. I really wanted to get rid of it. If this person had not come along, I would have donated the vehicle to a local charity. Car was stuck at my employer and I knew that I could not keep it there forever. I did not want to pay for a tow to my home.
Again, for me, I was satisfied with the offer. I consider myself to be blessed and I was in a position to help someone who needed a car. Good news he did not have to spend a WHOLE lot of money to get it running, BUT he spent more than I was ready to part with.
It also helped that the car was paid for. If you still owe money, your situation may be a little different than mine.

That's fair considering what and engine replacement cost and that is inevitable at that mileage.

Well, my odometer says 123k but the engine has around 80k on it. A few scratches and dings on the body but it runs completely fine. Compression test a couple of months ago was excellent. I know I'll get raped on a trade in so I was just considering what I should ask for it.

Nice choice. I've had a few Corvettes including a C6. Night and day between the C6 and the RX8. Enjoy it. By the way, www.corvetteforum.com ...you can't go wrong. GREAT forum.
