Fast Lane / EZ Pass
Hey
I'm finally getting a new RX8, and for the life of me, I can't figure out where to get new adhesive strips to stick my Fast Lane box to my windshield (the tollbooth things so you don't have to stop, ya know?) Anyone have any ideas?

Ok I found a bag of them on eBay :-) Next question, my fastlane is white. I assume it would still function and be OK if I painted it say, a dark graphite type color so it didn't stand out?

ez pass holder
You can also try an ez pass holder, this can easily suction on your windshield without leaving permanent stickies on it, and you can slide the ez pass in and out for convenience.
Here's an example of on i found on ebay, they also have these at local car washes for about 6 bucks.

Plain old black spray paint works great. I masked out the label part with the barcode on it before painting.
Here in NY the EZ-Pass comes with two little velcro strips that you attach to the windshield. Removing them is a piece of cake with a window scraper, so I don't see any advantage to the plastic/suction cup doohicky thing.
Also FWIW, when you mount it, you can find a spot where the rearview mirror completely blocks it from view, making it invisible to you when you're sitting behind the wheel.

Man, to be honest, just have a good place to set it where u can easily grab it and hold it up to the windshield when you pass through. I dont like having things stuck on to my ride, its a pain to the eyes as well as getting/cleaning it off. Thats just my opinion mind you, but it works well for me.

I like it on the windshield for the same reason I like audio controls on the steering wheel—there's something to be said for gliding thru E-Z Pass lanes without having to lift a finger. I don't like having to fish out **** from the glovebox or console—plus with 10 lanes of traffic rushing up to 8 E-Z Pass gates, it's a lot safer, too.

I have mine attached to the right behind the rearview mirror, behind the area w/ the black dots. I can't easily see it inside the car, and it's hard to see outside the car (certainly doesn't stand out, but you can tell it's there if you look).
Clean the area w/ some glass cleaner before adhering the strips.
To compare, here's what the car looked like w/ poor positioning (too low) of the E-Z pass. As you can see, it is quite obvious:
After moving it up to be against the dots, it's hard to tell it is there:
The nice thing is that I never take it off, or even think about it.
