06 is a minor aesthetic refresh. 07 is the mechanical overhaul and true refresh of the platform.

Nicest new feature is the cool blackened headlights and taillights. Everyone will probably try retrofitting them into the 03-05 6's.

the wheels look awful, but the rest is not bad.... really not that much different than the previous (maybe a less aggressive smoothed out look up front?)

here's the old one:

And the new:

Ya its part of mazda's americanization project. The 06's are also heavier then the 05's, which were heavier then the 03/04's.

Now it appears they are reducing the aggressiveness of the car's facade to move the target audience age a bit older.

There's also a slight change in listed power, which isn't any actual engine changes, just a more "realistic" power appraisal.

It looks more like a camry, less sporty than 03's/ 04's.

well if it helps sales, so be it.

That's what I liked about the 6, it was the BEST looking sedan on the market due to it's aggressive look. I could see how the older crowd might not be interested in something like that but I thought Mazda was concerned with bringing in the younger crowd (hence zoom zoom and performance breed cars).

I guess they are saving their aggressive look for the msp6?

Anyone notice the radio change? No more integrated unit... now it's a standard 2DIN by the looks of it in the photos... Now if they could only do that for the 8...

the 07 is going to be bigger- more like Millenia sized. It seems they think splitting the size difference between the old 626 and the millenia is possibly hurting sales. so they are supersizing it.

AMEN...Mazda, why oh why (while I love the interior of the 8) did you FORCE us into a non-standard radio???

Anyways, I LOVE....absolutely LOVE that black, tan, silver interior. In the future...because the 8...more and more seems to be a KEEPER, I'm going to change my interior into a black, tan, silver one like in that picture...it just looks so classy!

see how the 6 gets teh flip up console lid even if they donthave NAV. it would have been nice to have that in the 8 also. much easier to install our own screens that way. Mazda could have saved money also by not having to have 2 different center dash pieces made and stocked.

Agreed! My wife's 6 has that storage space and it upsets me that Mazda did not put it into the 8...that would have been a PERFECT place to put our own screens.
