Gotta admit not going to miss Mitsubishi. the 2nd gen Eclipse
was the best, 3000 GT was good also.. Gotta respond about
the bashing of the Zero/Zeke.. Their company should've been
using that to inspire to build a sports car.. Light, maneuverable,
and great power/weight ratio.. As a aviation lover, that plane
was kicking our *** with a above average/ ace pilots until
the Hellcat and Corsair was hitting them, and even aces today
said you couldn't take them lightly.

The 3000GT VR-4 was the only car Mitsubishi made that was worth anything
Forgot about that one. Nice ride but I don't care for Mr. Potatohead cars like the 3000GT/Stealth and Eclipse/Talon/Laser, etc.. The Eclipse AWD Turbo really was a quick, well built, balanced car though.

What about the 4+ rally WRC titles and the several Dakar wins? Sure those races are for marketing only but the WRC series and the EVO (III - IV) were the same for many years.

They have (had) a nice reputation with these races. They absence will be (is) evident there.

Like my GT, and I'am very sad I can't buy this car new any more! I was planning to sell but the 8 not quite a replacement I hoped for. So my Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 stays and lives!

A bloated, sport coupe, with a half assed AWD setup, based on a grandma sedan, selling for $30K+ back in the day isn't exactly my cup of tea. Those cars were junk....well, you could boost them until they blow up and have some fun...but they are to cramped in side to be a GT, too heavy (and FWD based!!) to be a respectable sports car.....I always hated them...and their smaller DSM brothers.....I really hated Mitsubishi...I think the only one I ever thought of owning was the last Starion....at least that was a real RWD....sideways engines....no way.

sensny,
I wasn't "brining that crap" to abuse any company that helped in the war effort against the United States and her allies. Heck, we weren't so innocent either, firebombing Toyoko, Dresden?

Just trying to enlighten the masses.

To also note.....Mattel Corp (toy company) makes almost every part for the M-16 A2 service rifle, with exception to the trigger housing unit. Yep a nice innocent toy company......

someone will acquire them... it's all about the price. if Toyota says to itself "we're on a roll right now, lets keep it growing hard", there is incentive to cheaply expand your manufacturing capacity, if not your corporate product line too.

or even a smaller company might want to take the risk and step up... i certainly don't think Mitsu is going to disappear, that never really seems to happen with car brands, especially with those that have such power behind them.

That grandma sedan is more stable and outhandles the 8 by a big margin over 60 mph any time
Have you ever driven one for a longer period of time? What about an EVO?

Rotary-convert, Sorry bro, didn't mean to come off so harshly with the "crap" comment. I was just making the point that where profits are to be found, there is big business. I don't think there is any right or innocent parties in war, only victors and the defeated. And the victors get to write the history.
Back to the main point, there are not many Mitsubishi cars I like, but the 2nd generation DSMs were cool, Starions were interesting and I am a real fan of the EVO. I do like the looks of the 3000GT cars and Stealths, but "bloated" was probably the best description of them I have read recently.

That's amazing. Because it's Hasbro that makes G.I. Joe!

(Maybe Mistubishi could switch to making toy cars?)

I don't think Mitsu is going bye bye. Just in the US they will phase-out /disappear. The pull out was because Mitusbishi's US division wasn't turning a profit and DaimlerChrysler was taking a huge hit. Go check out DaimlerChrysler's stock now, it jumped on the news that they pulled out of Mitsubishi., But Mitsu will car on in Japan/Europe.

hmm.... hate to be the lone voice but i for one will miss mitsu. sure, their lineup rite now is about as ugly as it can get, but mitsu made some very memorable cars. and i highly doubt mitsu motors will close for good, they'll find some way to revive the company (much like mazda). who knows? if they come through with the next eclipse that supposedly will be an awd turbo, we'll all be singing a different tune.

I just feel sad for the Mitsubishi dealers and their salespeople. They all rely on the company's products and too bad the recent Mitsubishi vehicles are getting worse and worse as far as designs.
