I would agree with MELRX8.

While I think it is a tad unfair to judge a car hood by itself, I guess if you must ask, I'd have to say it is only beautiful because of the whole of the car. By itself, it isn't something I could really appreciate fully. "Nice hood" doesn't quite have the same ring to it as "nice wheels"

Hmmm, fair enough, but the hood stands out to me as the most controversial design element. Actually the entire front end is either hideous or gorgeous. I could have asked an easy question -- would you like to see the RX-8 in that blue?

Options:
Definitely yes
Hell yes
Yes yes yes oh please yes

The hood and the rest of the car is beautiful, if for no other reason than it performs in such a gorgeous way. If a Pontiac Aztec performed as well I would think it was beautiful too :D

On of my bosses at work has the 340R version (roller skate) basically an elise with everything taken out, mud guards on the front wheels, comes to a point at the front, visible suspension etc, no carpets, no roof, no doors, holes in the floor for the rain to run out...

Now that shifts! He took me out for a spin and its scarry!

Which model did you get? The 111R is nice, got the same engine as my old 190 celica, and the exige version - nice! Supposed to be the best variant yet.

I don't like the hood or the headlights.

I like the car, but it doesn't have the look that I would look at and go "WOW", it looks alright.

This new lotus design makes me go WOW though:

Oh my god, that looks really awful. A glorified dune buggy.

The hood suits the Elise.... but wouldn't look too good if a ricer put it on his Civic.

The Elise hasthe same problem as the Rx8. From straight on its okay looking butfrom the proper angles the entire car looks amazing.

still fugly...

reminds me of the this girl from my highschool...she was gorgeous and actually made it into playboy later on (I've got pics if you want them, posting them would get me banned, again)

but one day I took a good look at her...she was pretty tall almost 6 ft model composure but she was disportionately sized, her neck was too long, her forhead to high, and others, but they were all little things...but they add up...and overtime they get to you

these little things usually show up when the 'novelty' aspect of the car wears off and your left with an ugly *** car and a much lighter wallet...this car is still overdone, to many lines, to many curves, and not following the Golden Section

all I'm saying is...may look cool now but in a few years we will be thinking? wtf were they thinking?

The elise can be as eccentric as it wants to be... I mean when your a little itty bitty car, with 190 bhp, that is completely and utterly decimating Super Stock in SCCA Autox, and smacking everything around at the track...you can be as crazy or fruity as you want.

The C5 Z06 guys absolutely hate that car with a passion .

I seriously doubt any vette' head even gives this car a second thought, 2 totally different concepts anyhow, one is designed around power to weight, the other is designed around power, mystique etc. I honestly don't see the fascination with this thing other than the performance, the styling just doesnt' do it for me. I've seen one of these in traffic and a C6 as well, I could tell you every detail of that C6 (I saw it at night to add to that), I can barely remember anything about the Elise so maybe that sums it up for me. Still an awesome car, but as with most of the current performance monsters out there (EVO, STI,etc..) the styling just seems off.

Canary,

They hate the Elise because its kicking their ***. The C5 Z06 and Lotus Elise are in the same class in SCCA Autocrossing. (Super Stock). Same class as the SRT Viper. I'm sure the C6 Z06 will be placed here as well. But with all these ungodly fast car's coming out, they may have to come up with a new classification...Super Extreme Stock perhaps?

Basically the elise doesn't have to brake, for basically anything. You can read more about its times and scores at http://www.sccaforums.com/index.php.

We haven't settled on color or package yet. I like the idea of the sport package because of the adjustable spring perches though!
