Drove the new MX-5
pretty decent car , cool thing is no key to start it. A card fits right in your wallet. they seem to have done a good job with it

I also drove one. Felt pretty good. Treated the bumps as if they weren't there and yet handled pretty well. Steering response was sharp and low end torque was more than adequate for that weight of car.

I agree that 4th is weak for the RX-8, so I usually stay away from 4th in spirited driving or when encountering a potential rival on the road. 4,5, & 6 all seem like cruising gears to me.
Anyway, I like the new Miata and test drove one too. But the 8 has me spoiled and I can not say I was WOWed by the new MX-5.

I may have to head up the the local dealer this week and take one for a drive . I've been contemplating getting another car as a daily driver. I've heard nothing but great reviews about this little car.

Got to drive the new MX-5 back in June in Kona, Hawaii thanks to Mazda North American Operations. Great car. Took the best things from both previous generations and added none of the querks.
Great car but I'll keep my 10th Anniversary Edition Miata for a few more years to come :D

That being said I'd love to renesize on as soon as possible.

The NC just needs 2 size smaller wheels. It would rock with some 14's or 15's on it. Mazda seems to have fallen into the GBOGH crowd, and is sacrificing performance because of it. 17's on a miata is like putting 20's on a normal sedan.
