Detonation VS Preignition (LSPI included) which is more severe

Hi 8Club

I recently came into a discussion with someone who insist that detonation is more severe than preignition (LSPI included), however, based on Engeneering Explained's video, I tend to believe that a preignition (LSPI included) is more severe due to the fact that it happenes before spark plug fire and the piston is way before TDC while a detonation happenes after spark plug fires and the engine can be way closer to TDC or even at/after TDC.

I would like to see what everyone thinks.

You sir are correct lspi is much worse.
In fact look at some almost all focus rs failures are form lspi. In fact you can almost tell which oils were not used when it happens. Several companies actually found a way to almost totally avoid lspi with oil formulas.
