Death rates: Acura RSX, 350Z
Two-door, two-wheel drive Chevrolet Blazers built from 2001 to 2004 had the highest rate of 232 driver deaths per million registered vehicles during the four-year span, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found.
...
The two-door Acura RSX had the second-highest rate with 202 driver deaths followed by the Nissan 350Z, which registered 193 deaths.

Interesting article, but doesn't give full results. If I have time later, I might see if the institute has the full report online.

Here's a link to the page where you can download the report in .pdf form:
http://www.iihs.org/sr/default.html
The notes about the table say that the data is for 2001-2004 model years during 2002-2005. The 8 isn't listed, possibly because the model years were too new???
I might surf over the the NHTSA site and look at the data if it is available on the web.

With the exception of the Blazer, I'm sure the severity of these accidents is more akin to the demographic of the purchaser rather than the safety of the vehicle, although the higher speeds they can attain is obviously a factor.

yea, have to understand that most roadster drivers tend to drive more "reckless" than do average drivers, overall I think it just depends on who the car was targeting, obviously rsx and 350z over here in CA are mostly driven by, teenagers, I'm not saying there is no adult drivers, but I see lots of teenagers with those cars, so no surprise

The 8 has better safety features than the other two cars standard.
