Getting a 2nd car 3000gt? ya or nah , help!
So I need to know if anyone knows these cars and can tell me if There more trouble than there worth. I can get a AWD Twin turbo '92 in mint cond with 90k origional owner. should i jump on it or they touchy? I know they require 93 octane and gas is $$ here. How are the non turbo 3000's? would that be a bettr choice for an everyday/commuter. anyhelp would be appreciated.

The non turbo is FWD is rather lame overall (think AT RX-8 ) If you were lookinf for a car to mod and be more of a project car the VR-4 might be a good choice, but for a commuter look for something more practical, newer, and economical...

I'm def not into being practicle... I'm single with no kids and no responsability. I like the car cause of the way it looks... I'm not into speed so the twin is a negoshable aspect. i need a resonable priced 2nd car but one that looks good.

Non-turbo's - you're buying a nice looking 3600+ lb car.
VR-4's - you're buying a 3800 lb car with a brass set of ***** but high maintenance issues. First gens will eat output shafts and all sorts of things. The car has basically every idea every mentioned - 4 wheel steering, active aero and exhaust, adjustable suspension. It also has about 1 tsp of space under the hood that is not occupied by engine. Lots of mechanics hate working on them. One of my favorite cars but never something I'd consider reliable for daily driving.

I knew a guy with one and said the car was a real pain in the *** to work on, and that the engine compartment is too cramped to do any single job without pulling the whole thing apart. Anything but the VR4 would be a real stupid move.

^^ this one only has 96k which isnt really that much when you think about it, and I'm not gunna do any modding to it even if I get the NA one. I'm wondering if they are a problem vehicle, I'm trying to avoid a headache. i think so far i'm leaning tward the NA cause of the gas situation, although the AWD would b nice when it snows....... ugh!!

The SL's ie non-turbos use the same engine that was in my mothers town and country minivan, and that thing ran forever. The twinturbos are a great car. I have worked on my friends while he was in college. To give you an idea of how much of a PITA they are work on, look at the engine bay.. you have to remove the intake manifold just to attempt to get at some of the plugs... ugh!! Fun car, but costly car. Also the year your talking about came with the 5spd, not the 6, and also with active aero, if I recall right. The active aero is a fun toy... and can be made for both show and go.
