CX-7 Adrenaline at Sema

I know I know. its not what we were hoping for in the way of a Mazdaspeed announcement. But I think this vehicle deserves some scrutiny for what it portends for the future.

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/01/s...on-adrenaline/

with respects to my freind John Neff over at Autoblog i'm going to link some of the pics

First its on the Mazdaspeed platform with out a Mazdaspeed badge. Of course they may have just wanted to be minimal badging but...

Second is the obvious Franz design of the front fascia. This is significant i think.

this is the second time , Kabura being first , that Franz'z fascia design has been given a prominent display. This leads me to think Mazda is definetly headed in this direction in the future.

Next is the version of Ford's Vista roof employed here

Again this is has now been shown multiple times over the last year or 2(kabura and others prior) and this demonstrates to me that Mazda clearly wants to use it on upcoming vehicles. I look forward to a buying a vehicle with this type of roof from Mazda.

Now the Rear Gate

Mazda has been using this type of blacked out glassed over look on Many of their concepts over the last 10 years or so. From the RX-01 to the Kabura and Senku. Its about time they put it into production.

There are close ups of the Headlights and hood as well

I love the aggresiveness of both these elements but think they are just Franz wishful thining and not for any production soon.

Anyway- thoughts of this vehicle and what it portends and its presence on a Mazdaspeed platform got me thinking

Mazdamaniac, at least i think it was, made the remark over the weekend "it depends on what they think of as 'MAZDASPEED'".

A couple years ago one of the head folks(quotes around here somewhere) at Mazda said Mazdaspeed wouldnt necessarily always mean dropping huge amounts of FI power into avehicle but about taking what the vehicle is to the next level. So a Mazdaspeed truck could be made to be a real off road racer with lots of suspension travel and a good AWD setup and called the Mazdaspeed edition.

This CX-7 is the epitome of of CX-7 . A Highly aggresive looking highpowered(relatively speaking) sporty crossover for that crowd who would buy a CX-7 but think its a little bland Heck id buy one- in that color.

So then what would a Mazdaspeed RX-8 be? the RX cars have always been light weight great handlers. So the epitome of RX-8 should be even lighter weight(better power to weight) even better handling with the aggresive looks befitting a MAZDSPEED badge. FI wouldnt hurt

So Im putting my vote in for a rotary Kabura as the MazdaSpeed RX-8

Im really liking Franz' designs. Mazda should use the all glass rear (which encases the tail lamps on some concept vehicles). I love the front grill with the hollow Flying M symbol.

SEMA: Mazda CX-7 Sizzles in "Wickedly Red"

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=117388

LAS VEGAS — One of the most standout, blazing paint jobs at SEMA has to be the Wickedly Red Mazda CX-7 by DG Motorsports.

The look is amplified by an appearance package that includes 22-inch Pirelli P Zero tires with high-performance black 22-inch Spinout wheels designed by Perfectly Round.

In the cabin, a custom red suede Stitchcraft interior designed by Revo plays up the red-hot theme. Another custom interior touch is the Sony X-plod audio/video system.

"The CX-7 is already a highly styled vehicle," said Dave Green, owner of DG Motorsports, "which made it a lot of fun to take it to that next level and create art."

The CX-7 is fitted with a turbocharged and intercooled 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 244 horses.

What this means to you: The hot CX-7 gets even hotter in Sin City.

Almost never. Which is why I avoid predictions.
As lawyers say - never ask a question for which you do not already have the answer.
