I pulled up to a red light last week and there was a red "Vette" (I've got a VR RX-8) next to me. The license plate read "TCKTS". I looked over at the red head (WOW!) driving it and mouthed "how many", She held up 2 fingers and I held up one. She then blew me a kiss and kicked *** on down the road.

 

The vette will be in my garage one of these days. I love that car. I went to a vette forum and they did not have a kill section either. Of course with a Vette why bother? Some forums could take a lesson from owners of a car in a completely different league not worried about kills but rather enjoying a great car and admiring others.

 

If I can afford a Vette before I'm 40, fine. After that it just screams midlife crisis and I don't know if I want to be thrown into that group. I'd also still take an Elise over a vette in a heartbeat.

 

Why do people try to compare $50000 cars to $30000 cars?

Corvette blah blah.. Sure they mean, Sure they nice, but damn..
lets get real here.. its $20,000 more!! end of story... For the money,
and all that you get with the RX8, pound for pound..dollar for dollar..
I'll take the rx8.. that is if money wasnt the issue... of course..

I paid $24000 for a used 05' RX8 the other day.. hell, I coulda bought 2
of those for what the Vette would have cost me..

Sorry, I find it silly for people to even compare and get deep into
a thread like this... lets start comparing the Segway to the Space
Shuttle for bleeps sake.



bottom line, RX8 is one fine automobile.. Looks, Feels, Drives, and Handles
like a dream.. and the pocket book has left over money to buy ice cream
on the way home from the dealership..

Listen bud, I can see you're enamored with your new car, and that’s great, it’s a great car. You have also made it abundantly clear that you don’t like the corvette. I don’t know why you have such a hate on for the corvette, sounds like you can’t afford one. I don’t even want to think about how much you must hate Porsche’s, Ferrari’s and any other car that costs more and offers more performance than the 8. You’ll learn one day that while the 8 is a very nice car, it is hardly the be all and end all of the automotive world. There are better cars out there, pound for pound, dollar for dollar. I can say that because, it’s a matter of opinion.

People are always going to compare cars, always! People are going to compare the corvette to Ferrari’s. Is that silly? no, why would it be? If you knew anything about cars, and car culture, you would know car comparisons are a fact of life. Whether you would like to admit it or not, you even compared cars when you were shopping your 8.

So, you really don’t need to post anymore about your disdain for the corvette, it’s tired.

hmm, where do I begin..

Actually, brain-zilla I worked at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY
for 1 and a half years.. driven more vettes than you'll ever dream of..
I love the vette.. But its not in the same class as the RX8.. if people want
to compare vettes to ferarris, thats fine.. even with the huge differance in
price between those two models, they are still classified in a similar field.

Comparing a rx8 to a vette is a completely differant story..

As far as what I can afford, I could have bought 4 cars that day and not
had a worry in the world about doing it..I just dont see the added value
of paying $20000 more unless I am getting $20000 more, and with
that comparison (rx8 -> vette) I wouldnt be.

I would also like to mention, that I believe the RX8 to be a better built
machine than the vette...pound for pound.. dollar to dollar.. I was not
impressed with GM at all under their employ..

 

Well that's a great opinion you have. However, that's all it is, an opinion. I happen to think you do get 20,000 dollars more with the vette, many agree with me, but again, that's only and opinion. So far, all of your posts on this forum have been expressing that single opinion of yours, again, it's time to get some new material.

If I have 25K-30K to spend I get an RX8 or a '05 GTO.

If I have 50K to spend I get a C6 Corvette.



And Disturbed, no disrespect meant by this, but if someone knocks on your door and offers you an 8 and a 'vette, price not in the equation, and you take the 8... your nuts.

 

Whoa, whoa, whoa....... You got the basic 05' RX8 for $24,000 and that's good, but that car is only worth ~$27,000 new - not $34,000

 

I've always believed Corvette drivers don't f0ck around. They are 80% of the time older guys and know they can smoke just about anything on the road. I'm sure they gun it once in a while but haven't seen it in a loong time.

my brother has a 2000 Vette and I have an RX-8. Bottom line my RX-8 is not even half the car my bro's Vette is. The vette has unbelievable looks, power, and torque. The RX-8 is an awesome car but the Vette is 8 levels above.
