I guess it was to be expected. Chevy wants to sell the Volt to everyone, so a sporty version probably would have as much mass market appeal.

 

but it looks better than a Prius.. they stated numerous times that it would differ greatly from the concept due to drag and such. If it looked like a wide boat it would get horrible milage, shape it like a rounded roll of bread and it gets better who knew? That and I must say Chevy's new corporate grill is looking nice on rounded surface's and I tend to friggin' hate corp. grills.

 

they think Toyota has nothing newer than their current Hybrid technology(which is based on some 10+ yr old stuff)

watch, right when the Volt about to come out Toyota will just "show" its weapon that has been in Toyota's lab for YEARS and squash Volt like a roach.

 

Toyota denounced the series system in the Volt for a long time before they finally admitted they had started working on one of their own, so that may well be true. Too bad it'll probably keep looking like the Prius which is somewhere south of a Pontiac Aztek in the beauty department. In 10 years, ALL hybrids will be series and parallel setups will be extinct. Parallel sucks.

 

why not try to appeal to the crowd that cares about what their car looks like as well as getting hybrid gas mileage.

 

its just like an auto manufacturer to take a hot concept and turn it into an ugly production vehicle.

who the F wants to drive a malibu?

people would have bought the chevy volt on looks alone if it looked like the concept.

the shape is in the name of aero, function over form yet they still had to make it appealling, i think they did a great job. Aero is greatly important as this is the first mass production plug in electric car.
