Which car is most comparable to rx8

Which car do you think is the most comparable to rx8. Sorry, if the list doesn't include the car in your mind.

I was somewhat surprised that most people think it is like the S2000. That is what I think also. I fully expected everyone to vote for the G35c. The only diffenece in the two is the body style due to practicality. As far as driving goes they have the same exact pupose.

I'm with mikeb- I can't think of any car that I can honestly compare to this. I'll have to go test drive some of these, but for the moment, it doesn't really seem to compare to any of these.

This is my vote: "None of the above." It is truly unique, most noticably because the compactness of the engine allows passenger compartment configuration that no one else can duplicate in a sports car package (including adequate head/leg room in the back seats.) Truly one of a kind.

while I agree that the 8 is unique, the evo/sti might also be worth of putting up there ...

NONE!!!

None, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none, none.

If you want to play polls, at least try a little harder...

Like which car's engine performance and handling characteristics are most like the RX8.

This poll is meaningless to me. Sorry.

I'd have to agree with that statement although if push comes to shove the RX8 reminds me of a BMW 3 series that I would actually want. Smooth motor, great chassis, brakes, transmission, clutch, ride. Ergonomically the 8 beats the crap out of the 3 series IMO. Let's not even get started on price differential.

I don't think soft-tops can compare. Two seaters are too different. There is a missing type of car that the 8 fills. There used to be the Mitsubishi 3000GT (Dodge Stealth), the Toyota Supra, maybe Camaro/Firebird size. I don't want a little Z, TT, S2000. They just don't fit the catagory.

i do think it's extremely difficult to find what's most comparable to the 8. it really is a sports car like NO OTHER. i said s2k because they share some pretty distinct similarities, even though they differ quite a lot.

similarities: combination of engine and weight. both engines are (probably) the highest revving out there, w/ little torque and close ratio gears but AWESOME engine speed and redline w/ peak output reached in the upper band. they both REV like nothing else! both are light weight FR cars; the 8 weighs ~3000 and s2k ~2800. also both have excellent chassis setup and neutral weight distribution that make phenomenal chassis dynamics. these are ingredients that make 2 cars that're exceptionally fun and found in few other cars on the list. plus, they're both (IMO) the most beautifully styled cars out of japan recently. both are very distinctive, very japanese, very cool, very lean, very sexy. 325 is real nice but feels mediocre in this group, not cool enough. plus, too many yuppies w/ $ but don't know anything about cars buy 3-series purely as a status symbol not becuase it's a good driver, and that turns me off. the 8, IMO, is a very honest car and carriers none of this status image garbage. altezza is a cool car and a close pick but it's slow and is merely a nice sporty sedan. g35 and 350z are way heavy and kinda feel like muscle cars in comparison. the FF cars shouldn't be included. and the audi TT is like a german thunderbird, so don't even bother

differences: the s2k is very all-out no-compromise, among the most visceral and pure sports cars out there. it's wild and it's awesome. and it's fast, faster than the 8 'cuz it's smaller and lighter. it's a roadster. it rides very rough and isn't that practical. the 8 on the other hand has many good compromises without losing the sports car-ness. it's much more comfortable and practical compare to the s2k. s2k is like a speedo; rx-8 is like a wetsuit :D

the bottom line, the 2 cars share the same spirit in the power and driving dynamics department. that said, nothing still compares to the rx-8

yeah, latest test by R&T in august ran 0-60 in 5.5, too. they also clocked top speed at 163. it's a fast car. i believe 8's top speed is electronically limited to ~148?

More like the BMW 330 Ci, not the 25. The Z is much more of a "sports car".

You should remove the S2000 from the list. It is a roadster not a 4 seater. And the performance is a little out of the league of RX8.

The S2000 is a lightweight 2 seater sports car. RX8 is not in that category. RX8 is a nice well-rounded sports car with needed torque, it is just not as hardcore as a S2000.
