2007 gti 2dr 6sp.......its horrible.....it doesnt feel like a sports car at all..... it does have low end power but my 8 seems faster and definitely feels faster according to my wife in the passenger seat(shes pretty much un biased).....it feels like im driving a mini van....lots of under steer and the ride is more harsh.....the gear box actually feels smoother but also more numb.....the seats are ok but the driving position sucks.....and it looks like jelly bean......im definitely happy with my car.....

 

yeah I always used to get bashed on by my VW freinds, then one day I get really offended(at something I cant remember what was said) and I told them to go for a ride, they all shut up and when I got into his car(98 Jetta VR6) after the ride I said "yup, thats what I thought, you got a nice grocery getter" lol

GTI's a re a bit faster than our cars....on paper........

however, I agree with the feel, I test drove one and it felt like a more refined civic......

 

I actually like those cars better than the 8 for a DD. Very smooth cars ( I absolutely love the clutch and tranny. My favorite shifting cars), very comfortable, nice options with tons of room in that small car. They are faster than the 8 (what isn't?) but they can be expensive compared to their competitors and are more of a DD than a sports car (unless you modify, but the VW service is notoriously bad to the modified VWs).

 

It's not a sports car, but that doesn't mean it's a bad car.

 

i dont think theyre faster.......they have less whp and weigh a 100 lbs more

 

A GTI, hammered, with the fast-shifting DSG 6-speed will do 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. The RX-8 is quicker than that. Modified, my RX-8 is FAR quicker than that now.

My bro has the 2007 GTI and I like it all though it has been rated less reliable then the rx-8 but its a good quality car, it sporty in its own way. On top of everything the GTI is faster then the Rx-8 in power but then in handling the rx-8 is better too so...
