Just poked around the MazdaUSA site and discovered the MazdaSpeed 3. Anyone besides me pissed that the budget model from Mazda is going to have a 2.3 Turbo making 250hp and 280ft-lb of torque. Oh, and it will probably weigh less than our RX-8s as well.

Don't get me wrong, I think the 3 is a good little car, but cmon....a MazdaSpeed 3 before the 8?!? WTF.

 

Nope, not upset AT ALL. Actually, I'm quite excited that they did the 3 before the RX-8.
(Oh, this is a report btw but I'll entertain it for a second... )

By making a MS version of a car that FAR outsells the RX-8, that is adding more dollars and name brand recognition to the Mazdaspeed. I could go on, but that's the short version.

 

Not nearly as pissed off as I am about that Steve Bartman guy ruining the Cubs hopes for a World Series! Did anyone else see that?

No more that I was about the 244hp turbochgd SUV. In fact, probably less. I still curse at Mazda every time I see the commercials for it. But neither have a rotary, so I guess I'll live.

I understand their reasoning for it and all, but it's still dissapointing. Only company in the world to produce a rotary powered vehicle and their little station wagon outperforms it, their suv has more power and I'm guessing everything outsells it.

Well I was planning on buying an 8 but I guess I'll just have to wait a year now.

 

Would you trade the 8's dynamics for the 3? Do you define "outperforms" only in straight line terms? Pick up the latest Car and Driver, they got a good story on "locosts", super 7 rip-offs that can cost under 8 grand but can outperform most sportscars. Does that make most spotscars *****?

Kind of reminds me of the SRT Neon. It has a turbo and is zippy. But its still a Neon.

This thing might have some great numbers, but its still a station wagon.

The 8 is a total package. Head to toe greatness. It will also get alot more looks than a fire engine red Station Wagon.

I like the sound of it. And I think everyone needs to stop coming on this site and complaining about it. If you're that unhappy, trade in your RX-8.

 

would of been cool if they brought the AWD version to US. that would of been cool. either way, this would be a cool daily driver for me (thinks to him self hmmmm)

 

I think Mazda just thought to themselves that they let the lil Civic Si have its reign long enough and figured they could go after it with a MazdaSpeed 3. Makes sence really besides personaly I believe the people at MazdaSpeed do wanna have their own 8 eddition they are supposed to be the "Racing" development side of Mazda right?? Give it time.. just keep telling yourself "Good things come to those who wait!"
