I like the sound of it. And I think everyone needs to stop coming on this site and complaining about it. If you're that unhappy, trade in your RX-8.
Abso-friggin-lutely. The whining and sniveling is a bore.

Why anyone's pissed that the SUV (CX-7) has more power than the '8, considering its extra weight and the slushbox anchor, completely baffles me.

As for the MS3... It will only be capable of outperforming the RX-8 in ONE performance category (and even THAT is in question until we see some hard numbers on what the MS3 can generate). If you bought the '8 for its straight-line speed and are pissed about the number of more mundane cars that will beat it in that respect, boy oh BOY did you buy this car for the wrong reason. You completely missed the boat on what makes this car great.

Actually, I bought the car because it was rotary powered. It really wouldn't have mattered to me what Mazda put the rotary in, I was going to buy another one. Missed my RX-7 too much.

Maybe pissed was too strong of a term, certainly seems to have you all riled up.

I'M riled up?? You are the one who used the word "pissed". Not only in the thread title, but in the first post as well. You even followed it up with a "WTF?"

Don't try to turn this around on ME, Pete. You're the one with HP envy, not me. I'm perfectly happy with my '8, MS6 or MS3 be damned.

Given the dismal sales, the only thing they'll work on is discontinuation.

I'm not surprised that sales are falling for the RX-8 as compared to last year. This is typical of sports cars/sports coupes as they "age"... Just look at the jump in sales of the Miata over last year. And only the 6 is an "older" car, and even it has had a cosmetic freshening, unlike the '8.

Hey, at least it's outselling the MPV and the B-series truck.

I love being ignorant. I don't care about other cars, only that MY car is a great car (as I firmly believe). It's the total package, from performance to practicality to sophistication to looks. Maybe if Mazda makes an MS version of the 8 in, say, 2008, I'll buy a used one after my current 8 gets too long in the tooth. If not, maybe I'll buy the next version of the 8. I don't know; I don't care. Today, I drive a great car.

You know what? It's 9 at night and I feel like going for a drive. Be back later. . . .

There really is some truth to the old saying "ignorance is bliss".

Wait until you drive a CX-7. Sweeet. I picked up an AWD a few weeks ago as a daily driver. It doesn't take away a thing from the RX8, nor does the turbo econobox. Two kinds of people buy FWD cars. Those who lack proper driving skills, and those with thin wallets.

Personally the RX8 is an exotic for the thin wallet crowd. The 350 isn't exotic it's just a sports car that looks a lot like a G35. I see Z's all the time, they tend to blend in. The RX8 stands out and thats kind of cool. The 3 will never stand out.

Some, not all, but some of this thread is bull. Poorly spelled too. Does the RX8 really need the MS treatment? Do the majority of buyers over the age of 29 really care if it has FI? As a dumb Canuck who bought six months ago based on the test drive and research, I knew what I was throwing $43,000 at. The car is considered a novelty in my neighbourhood and when I crossed Rainbow Bridge two weeks ago and used valet parking at a New York casino it was considered a god. The teen fanboy crowd wanted to see the rear doors open. They wanted to see under the engine cover. They refused to believe the 1300/2600 CC = 239 bhp numbers. They loved the rims. They came in their baggy jeans over the interior. But each and every one of them stopped dead in their retarded teenager tracks when they heard about "rotary". At that point the world's shittiest Mustang could have pulled up next to me and they would exhaust-**** its rear-end. God Bless North America but you tell people about the rotary in this part of the world and their eyes start to droop. They don't get it because NASCAR doesn't do it. It reminds me of my 1999 Golf TDI. I would try to explain diesel and all they could barf was..."so you fill up at truck stops?"

Fark the MS RX8. Stop wishing and hoping and slap on your own FI. Sold as stock, this car is outstanding. There are dozens of alternative choices out there for the race boys. Who probably all have their parents on the insurance.

Rant OFF.

Definitely.

I'm glad I was one of the first to have a Mazda 3. That car really took off and I'm glad to see it.

I'm like my 8 more though. Got it yesterday.

Buyin a new 8 might be a problem for me. I keep cars a looong time. Hell, the car I had before the 8 was a 15-year-old Toyota Celica. Maybe I'll just keep adding stuff for the next few years.

you seem to think mid engine cars and rx8s are the gods of cars.

Way to rile em up Pete. lol. It's just odd, imo, that mazda put a ****** turbo in their new SUV b4 the 8. The commercial - every time I see one - causes me to think WTF.

Yes, but the 2.3MZR already existed. It's not some new development just for the CX-7. This is simply a good business move, and the 2.3MZR appears to be Mazda's global engine. The V6 in the Mazda6 was only for the North American market, the rest of the world gets the 2.3.

I assume you haven't driven much on snowy, icy roads. I believe front wheel drive is far better in these conditions, regardless of one's driving skills.
