vishnu has discovered the 335i, $1300.00 for 55-60whp and 70-80lbft of torque. It is very enticing. The M5 boards have alot of discussion about this car and its potential because of the fact that it makes power at such a low rpm it can definitely be a force to be reckoned with for E39 M5s and all M3s. I think this thing is a great value. I saw a convertible one the other day and it is cool, different enough from most 3 series to catch your eye but still something of a sleeper.

"Even in stock form, the 335i is a potent machine, but fortunately, BMW left quite a bit on the table to work with. Through precise and methodical calibration with the Vishnu PROcede computer, we are able to extract another 55-60whp and 70-80lbft of torque. These monstrous gains are achieved with only two more pounds of boost from the clever factory twin turbo set up. For those that demand more of everything, the Vishnu Stage Zero comes with the added safety of reworked fuel maps, which not only keep your motor running cooler, but also improves fuel economy. During testing, we have measured one to two mile per gallon increases during normal driving conditions. One drive with a Vishnu tuned 335i will remind you how throttle response should feel. And as with all of our products, we are proud to note that the drivability will remain as it did the day your car left the assembly line."

Apples----Oranges

Maybe this is obvious, maybe not. But there is a lot of Apples to Oranges Comparisons being done here. Mostly by Sour Grapes eating folks who haven't even driven, let alone owned both the 335i Coupe (E92) and the RX-8.

So if you haven't lived with both for awhile, taken both out and driven for a day, and basically have NO Idea WTF you are talking about? STFU. You're just embarrassing yourself with your plebeian attempts to tear things down you have no experience with.

PhotoMunchey, everything you posted is plain wrong, how about you drive one for a little while before posting up from the land of "Make Believe"..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 335i Coupe is NOT, NOT a sports car. It's mission to be an ALL AROUND, Day in Day out GT, or Sports Coupe. This it does very well, far better than just about any other car on the planet. There is a reason the 3-series has been in every manufacturers cross hairs for so long.

It will eat an Rx-8s Lunch all day in a straight line, and has handling feel and agility enough to NOT get left behind out in the twisties. Pretty Impressive for a car that is NOT a SPORTS CAR.

It's not as agile as an 8, it's turn in isn't as sharp, and it's weight is felt higher up than the 8 certainly. But it makes up for it with near perfectly balanced handling, excellent feel, fantastic power delivery, fantastic brakes, great transmission, and the kind of composed handling most any sports car would envy.

I do miss my RX-8 sometimes, it had a "down-in-it" feel that is very nice and the handling in the twisties was just perfect, Not to mention the rabid Chainsaw sound track. But, day in day out the 335 is a better all-a-rounder for me.

-Perfect driving position and ergonomics.
-Power on tap anywhere at any speed.
-Excellent brakes with a lot of intelligent features
-Superb handling
-Quiet Comfortable interior
-Extremely solid chassis
-4years/50K miles Free Service and Maintenance, 24/7 Road Side Assist, BMW Assist (On-Star), Integrated ipod
-300+hp and about 28MPG if you drive like a human.

Now I am not hear to beat the BMW Wardrum and talk about HOW SUPERIOR it is to ALL other cars and basically be a fanboy. NO, The fanboys by and large aren't enthusiasts at all, they are status seekers, fools who believe that the emblem on the hood somehow makes them better looking or their *****'s bigger or that someone actually gives a damn about the car they drive.

No, I am here to say without question that BMW builds fantastic handling and performing cars. They've learned a few things in the 20 something years they've been building the 3-series and they apply what they know. I test drove the 335 expecting to be unimpressed with it's handling and "feel". Especially coming from the RX-8 which has a wonderful feel of the road. I've had heard all the hype over the years and was planning on being disappointed. However, when I was done driving it, I was just blown away. It's softer than the 8, but it has such a dynamic, alive and communicative chassis that I didn't mind the extra comfort. It really is just an overgrown RX-8 with another 60HP and 150ftlbs of torque.

It has been softened somewhat and weight added by new Safety standards and federal Regulations, as well as the average Joe Americans NEED for Fuggin Cupholders, and Every damn doo-dad and widget they have to pack in to the car. But if I wanted the Pure Sports car experience I would have just picked up a Lotus Elise FTW. But I was after a car with four seats, a do everything car and that's what I got. Hell they even make a freaking tow hitch, and roof racks for it...

If you are really into driving, and love performance cars but just want one car. I can recommend the 335i Coupe easily. Besides I fit in it much better than I did the RX-8, it has that extra couple of inches of headroom that has made all the difference. WHICH, is the only reason I got one to replace the 8 anyway.

Most folks do not buy a BMW cause it's of a name, there are real sound reasons for the purchase and foremost among these are the driving dynamics...

Cheers
