All New Mazda CX-30
This CX-30 fits between the CX-3 and CX-5.....why not call it a CX-4 ( and yes I know that name exists in China ONLY)..
So the all new CX-9 will be called CX-90?....Mazvolvo!
Personal opinion...looks sharp, not liking the THICK Black Wheel arch plastic and the Rear looks stupid like a car ran up it's backside.
You can see who was NOT the Chief Designer...
And NEWS that the Battery Electric ROTARY Generator sh*t box WILL be launched later this year.

Yeah, like a CUV is any better than the rotary range extender EV for car enthusiasts.
If anything, I prefer the latter. Again, they could be testing out some theories(flatter rotor, DI) on a range extender rotary before digging deeper to make it power the car.

What makes it a "****" box?
Anyway, we know the CX-30 is not an epic launch for Mazda. It won't be their highest volume seller and Mazda knows it. It's just another vehicle put together from their parts bin to fill the sizing gap.
The countless ranting against Mazda not building the car you want is getting tiresome. Their dealerships may not be receiving your signed checked, but they are getting better than expected sales from the general public.

CX-30 is a car "bread&butter" ,at least here in EU.
I'm waiting for big news at Tokyo Motor Show in autumn , let's see if Mazda want to play the "premium game" seriously.
i mean platform and engines

And yeah, if it pays the bills, then sure. Just make sure some of that money goes to RE R&D. Could be my wishful thinking, though.

- Smoothness. I4 is pretty coarse compared to a rotary. I3 will be even worse. With a rotary it should improve comfort.
- Less noise. Yeah our cars are loud, but it's because they are designed to be performance sports cars. If they wanted to, they can also make it pretty quiet, even quieter than piston engines.
- The fuel efficiency and reliability issues aren't as prevalent because it will run at a constant RPM and load, so you can tune every parameter perfectly for that given operation. ICE is also just more efficient at constant RPM. That's why highway mileage is better than city.

Snippet from MotorTrend and CarBuzz:
That said, this thing is going to sell like hot cakes, and Mazda does not give a flying **** if the cheap automotive enthusiasts shames the CX-30.
Having been around a few female co-workers (in their late 20's and early 30's) looking for new vehicle replacements, this is exactly what they're looking for. These are buyers replacing their BMW 3 series, Audi A4's, etc which happened to be their first car out of college. They've become accustomed to the quality of an entry-level luxury car, however they've also gotten over the luxury badging price premium and minimal space as their automotive preferences mature.
Mazda wanted the CX-30 to be easily manageable in the city where streets and parking spots can be tight. At the same time, Mazda's ideal customer needs space for their friends and children, as well as room for cargo. Thus, the CX-30 boasts the same amount of rear legroom as the CX-5, and enough luggage space for strollers, shopping bags, and other items a CX-30 driver might throw in the back."
"We have different customers in different markets for each of the models (the CX-30 and Mazda3 hatch). For example, for the US there are bigger cars available and CX-30 is fairly compact so we mainly targeted young female, single customers.” Why? Because the Mazda3 hatch doesn’t look SUV-like enough. "The body cladding around the wheels arches contrasts very nicely with the upper body, which we wanted to make as sleek as possible. We designed the cladding intentionally. The cladding makes it look more like an SUV.”
