How are they unacceptable and non-impressive then?
If you compare this CX-7,9 to other SUVs on the market, its very impressive to me, the styling mainly, yet to see how it handles and the power. Dont forget their target customers, they are soccer moms, mainly parents if not all... they even stuck a turbocharged motor in a SUV! could become the 1st SUV with potential for mods!

I let the CX-7 pass, but only because no one in the market had anything better to offer. But then, Mazda releases the CX-9 that looks identical to the CX-7, I was expecting a new design, not larger CX-7. Unacceptable.

The CX-9 isn't a bigger version of the CX-7. It's actually a bigger version of the Ford Edge/Lincoln MKX. The CX-7 and CX-9 do not share the same architecture.

MazdaUSA has the page for the CX-9 up now
http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...er=upcomingCX9
It'll be pushing 250hp and 240ft/lb torque, a little less than the turbo 4 on the CX-7, actually a lot if you look at MS6 dynos. haha, but the V6 should be the engine to use for the purpose and reliability. Also they'll have wheels options too, 18 or 20 inches, the car looks good, has a better looking rear than the CX-7 imo, and a really nice interior.
Also confirmed now is MS3 hp and torque, it'll be 250+ hp and 280ft/lb torque, so we'll be seeing a MS3 that has give or take 260ft/lb torque at the wheels man!(again dynos from MS6)
Mazda Canada has the page for MS3 up, and its way better than one on mazdausa, visit www.mazda.ca

Here's a quick pic from the NY auto show of the CX-9
Mazda only had one CX-9 at the show and there was a cut out version of the CX-9 so you can see what's inside the car (the seats and all) though Mazda went all out with the CX-7.
Sorry about the pic. It was too large to upload. I'll try to strink the pic so i can upload it later

yes the Edge is on the same platform as the CX-9. which is the NEW Mazda6 platform. Its larger than the current 6 and has already been used by Ford onthe Fusion/Milan/Zephyr(MKZ for 2007). the larger Mazda6 debuts midish 2007. Later than expected because of Capacity at the Flint Rock plant i believe.
Mazda's new platform and Ford got to use it first...
