It also won't matter to 95% of consumers, because they don't even look rearward anymore. It's quite unfortunate that most rely on "safety" nannies to do the most basic driving maneuvers. Blind spot monitoring and reverse cameras (mandated for all new cars) takes care of this enormous C-pillar blind spot.

Have you guys driven Hondas made the past few years equipped with the "blind spot camera"? It displays exact what's on the passenger side mirror on the infotainment screen!

When 5G networks hit and autonomous cars graduate into self-driving cars, we'll have a glory hole window as a windshield.

I love it. Very well executed. Both hatch and sedan.

Yes, got to agree with our friend Paul..

The Mazda 3 Sedan is exquisite for a Sedan, and the Hatch I would like to see in the flesh, but certain side 3/4 angle side shots make the C Pillar look in proportion and then other high up rear 1/4 shots make the C area look large and a huge blind spot issue.

Having said that, IMO Mazda would see this and I am certain designed this in mind so it qualifies for vehicle rigidity and crash testing.
As we should all know that 'old' designs of years past simply do not compute anymore.

I am very surprised that we are even seeing this new Generation small Mazda 3 to some point as I believe it will be the last.
Ford and GM will no longer be making the Cruize and Focus as they no longer sell, as I said before, everyone today wants SUV.

This may swing in Mazda's favor for a few short years....BUT.
This is the end of small platforms which are not SUV specific, and as we know this new Gen 2 Skyactiv platform will be used on all new CX-3, 5, etc.
I also am doubting Mazda's decision to make ANY all new Mazda 4 door 6 Sedan....the CX-6 sounds more realistic.

And these NEW Interiors in the BT Mazda 3 is ALL Class and is the next HUGE step for Mazda which cleans up the Germans.
It is not that difficult to make, all car Dashboards, Door Trims (cards) HAVE to be designed/made, so spend a little more money and time and make them more 'Premium', wonder who thought of that a few decades ago, oh yeah, Lexus.

IF Mazda are clever enough and roll it out fast they will catch and bring back a huge number of their lost market share as they were and still are asleep at the wheel in the US.

Some of their marketing plans, advertising, dealer support and actions IMO have been unforgivable, particularly under the O'Sullivan (ex Ford) Mazda boss since retired, and Davis who has been shuffled sideways and backwards with one foot permanently out the door.

So yeah, love the Sedan and the Hatch will be better, much better in the flesh.
As now an OLD Fart, I like to see a little 'Chrome' on the outside too...

Yes in the USA the Mazda CX5 is now Mazda USA's biggest seller, not the 3 anymore. People are loving their SUVs in America and around the world. Small SUVs are cutting into small sedan sales as folks want more utility from their vehicles. In the USA, both Ford and GM are seriously reducing their production and models of sedans to focus more on SUVs and trucks. That is where the USA market is going and other parts of the world also. .
