93 fd project
So before I was looking into buying a 1984 rx7, but instead I decided to look into an FD, I'm not familiar with rx7s, and I was planning on buying this car, any ideas on how much it would cost to get up and running?

Thats way too much for that particular RX-7 IMO. Only way u would get $8k+ for that is if that thing was in excellent cosmetic condition inside and out, and judging by photos and description, it is not. You have to assume that the engine will at least need to be tore apart to check it and likely will need all new seals. If not doing all the work yourself ur talking about alot of $ to do it right...which is the only route you want to go with this car. And of course u would need new wheels cuz those on it are hideous! LOL. I wouldnt give more than $6k for that as is. It would be a great project car though, thats if you have plenty of $ to stick into it. GL either way

For between $3-4k(core return out of it) you can get a completely brand new assembled in japan engine for it. The "reman" engines from mazda are not reman for 3rd gen, we have no rebuilts ready so we have like 10 brand new 3rd gen engines for sale. Plus you gotta install it, I would buy one if I wasn't married and could afford to spend freely.

That is actually a fairly clean and straightfoward FD. IT is rare to find them that do not have salvage title or previous accidents, or non-tasteful mods such as shity paint, shitty widebody kits etc. The car has a few mods but not so many as to devalue it. I'd say it's about a $6000-7000 dollar car as it sits, if it is as decent as it looks like in those pics.
The v8/2jz swappers buy FD rolling chassis' in worse condition than that, all stock, with no motor/trans, and pay 5 grand all day long. All this one needs is either someone who knows alot about rotaries, or someone willing to pay a couple or 3 grand to get it running.
