the 8's gone, what to get?

I'm not to sure about that, most mags are stating the 135i to be around 30K. If a 335i(sedan) starts at 39K, coupe at 41K I would assume the 135i would start bellow 35K, I'm thinking 32K. Who knows though just have to wait and see.

The 1 series will most likely start out around 30k, but that is for the 128, the 135 will probably start around 35k. Then when you consider that it will most likely have a markup and that BMWs with no options don't exist at dealers. It's also believed that the 135i will have the M sport package as standard equipment. Also consider that the German price is known to be 38,950 Euro. When you consider the price of other BMWs in Germany compared to US prices you're looking at right about 35k for the 135i.

I'm thinking if you've had a RX8, and want something pretty different, maybe front wheel drive is the ticket? I know the GTI is very open to engine modifcations. The new Cooper S probably will be if it's not already since now it has a turbo instead of a supercharger. Same for the 3. The future looks bright.

Mazdaspeed3

I'm not big on FWD either, but all three of these cars are intriguing to me, especially the light weight of the Cooper S.

do the 2 of you realize you are squabbling about $3000 at this point?

i don't see the dealers putting too much mark up on these. As DD pointed out if you put too much more on top you might as well just get a 335 for the same price. The only ones that would go for it would be track enthusiasts.

You want something fast, not necessarily practical, and easy to tinker? Save $15k and buy an FD. That's what I'd do if it were my money. Looks great, fast as hell, lots of mods, always work to be done on it...

The 135i WILL have the M sport package as standard equipment. It says so right in BMW's press release. The question is, will it have limited slip (which only their M cars do). This car is a heavy contender for my next vehicle because it'll be reasonably priced for the performance it'll be offering.
I'm gonna have to agree with you on the price though. They're gonna be expensive, but they're going to have to be significantly lower than the 335i in order for buyers to consider it over the 335. We'll just have to wait and see.

i love how ppl on this forum assosciate modding a car with being rice. a g37? i don't see why that can't be a "toy", why cause it's an infiniti? reguardless of what you call it, the car's still a nissan (which is not a bad thing). but you're right about the aftermarket though. as far a an accord: come on!! i can't go from a rx8 to that i'm trying to upgrade.

well i wasn't sure what you meant by "soup up," sometimes it's exterior only (rice) and other times it's intakes, exhaust systems and turbos. don't knock that accord too much, i'd be curious to see what those V-6 0-60 times are, i'm guessing it's not bad at all.

if you really want to splurge you should get the IS-F, that engine/transmission combination really looks like a beast.

Your right, but I still think they will price the 135i at about 32K. Guess we'll wait and see.

what about a mk4 supra? my friend has one in the 700hp range and my other friend just traded his for a porsche and his was built by titan motorsports, and all i can say is wow, even his girlfriend has one and that thing is wicked too.

MKIV Supra would be an awesome choice. It's kinda hard to find one for sale where the price isn't jacked the hell up, but they sure are awesome. If you want the 2JZ engine, the Lexus IS300 can be had for a reasonable price. It is the non-turbo supra engine, but can still handle pretty big numbers from a turbo without modding the internal engine. If you swap in some 2JZ-GTE internals, you basically have the same engine as the turbo supras out there.

Dont do it!!!

Please do not get a GTO... my buddy has an 06' 6.0 litre, hes pushing 430 hp with a couple adds and im not that impressed, styling is kinda lame IMO...

Id do an EVO outta your picks

C6 Vette. Preferrably a Z51 with a manual transmission. Might feel a little heavier (steering mostly) but seriously fast. You look at it funny and you'll add 20 hp.

Although in some areas of the country you will have a hard time standing out in a crowd, if that matters.

You drive a C6 with just headders, cat back and CAI and you will be impressed. And the sound....omg.....sex on wheels

I bought a used M3 over the 8 and it is a great car as has been mentioned power mods like the 8 can be expensive, basicly the only way to get anymore real power out of an S54 is FI but that also yeilds about 400 at the wheels at least. As for exhausts there are a lot of them any where from 2500 to 22000 dollars( it is one badass exhaust though). you can go ti headers to tips though for around 3500.

Exterior wise there are a lot of options and prices are high to low depending on what you want (it gets expensive if become a CSL ***** though). Suspension parts are not that bad either. you could pick up a used 04 for 32k with low miles if you look really hard. Overall it is a great car but can be expensive.

if you're into modding and don't mind 10+ yr. old cars i'd look for supras or fds.
you'll probly save some money for mods
