Exclamation An 8 ROTOR SUPERCAR!!!

AN 8 Rotary Super Car ANYONE???

ROTARY SUPERCARS

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11108243...on-super-sport

Rotary Supercars has announced one of their upcoming models will be offered with an eight-rotor rotary engine that develops 2,840 PS (2089 kW / 2801 hp) and 2,580 lb-ft (3,494 Nm) of torque.

This will supposedly enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than one second (Top Fuel dragster territory) and hit a top speed in excess of 450 km/h (279 mph). If these figures pan out, the model would trounce the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and claim a new world speed record for a production vehicle if it indeed achieves that status.

Previously, Rotary Supercars announced their Predator GT with a four-rotor Wankel engine - based on the Mazda 13B MSP - would develop up to 1,200 PS (883 kW / 1184 hp) and a second model called the VelociRaptor was also in construction.

We're taking everything with a grain of salt, but the company has plans to unveil their first model at Top Marques Monaco 2012.

It's like binary. 16 rotors is next, followed by 32 bit. Er, I mean 32 rotors.

Isn't there already a 12 rotor engine?

Still, those numbers are quite astronomical.

It would be amazing if a rotary car was able to take the Bugatti's spot. I'd just love to see this engine running.

Amen! They were asking to "invest" in the company when pre-ordering the cars...
Anyway an 8 rotor engine would be pretty heavy, where the hell will they place it?

me too, I was asked to come on board and be part of the company. I was asked to design the body, I did a couple initial concepts but did not hand them over due to a lack of payment. A few weeks later is when the photoshopped 599 appeared on the web, which wasnt even a good ps.

If this car ever does see the light of day, it may save the RX model line.

Yes but it won't ever see the greenlight. How could it ever possibly meet our euro5 emission requirements?

I called BS the first time I heard of this company. Talk is cheap. The opposite was the Fraser-Nash Namir that displayed a concept vehicle to demonstrate their technology. You can research their capital backing and history vs this nonsense.

Super/Hypercars are well beyond most people's income. When you've got mountains of cash to play with. Expensive toys.

I've seen crazier people/things at walmart.

he's not talking about being able to afford one. he's talking about r&d to actually build one. even tho a veyron costs $1million, bugatti still loses money on each one they sell because they were that expensive to engineer. the cost to simply build a prototype engine that may or may not even run would be several hundred thousand. then body areo suspension transmission etc. which unless they just play legos with a bunch of parts that already exist, the cost to simply produce one working prototype is more than ill probly make in my lifetime.

and ill doubt they just mash up existing parts cuz i imagine it will be hard to find parts that meet weight requirements while being able to handle those kinds of powers.
