The LS2 Solstice will be awesome, and unless you're talking about top speed, it will probably hang with a Corvette. Plus it looks better IMO, and costs $7,000 or so less. Frankly, I'm surprised GM isn't doing this themselves. The Solstice is closer to what the original Corvette was anyway! This car will be great for guys who would like to have a Cobra kit car, except for the tiny size and fair-weather-only nature of them.
edit: GM doesn't do LS2's in every car because of manufacturing costs. I have to wonder though, why couldn't they lop off a couple cylinders and make 300 HP? If we're talking about 50 HP per cylinder, I mean. Build a LS2-cousin-V6-powered midsize sedan @300 HP, and you could sell some cars. Especially with a manual option and/or RWD. |
