we have one of the best forums on the net by far too ... and im proud to be a rotary owner its not being a fanboi it is the fact ... the 370 is an awesome car no doubt but it doesnt put a smile on my face and the z is a 2 seater 8 is a 4 z costs more too especially used which is what i care about coz i never buy new plus for ME personally if your getting a 2 seater payin the insurance and stuff and sacrificing room why ot get something sexier (subjective) and faster like the vette which will dust a z in any condition any day of the year JUST MY .02!

The only Z I would consider is a 240, 260, or 280 with webbers just for nostalgia.

I like driving the 8's. I've yet to try a turbo, but I am sure it's a blast.

My friend had a 325 HP supercharged mini with 100shot NOS, that would whoop
90% of the cars we came across. It doesn't matter what any model can do stock.
It's what the techie can tweak into it that makes it the fastest.

The Rx8 is a SUPER platform to improve on.

Ok guys this is really getting old. For one, I drive a turbocharged Rx-8 and it was very very excellent! I also just recently test drove the 370z and it is night and day compared to the 350z. In almost every aspect the 370z outperforms the Rx-8, but the RX-8 provides two extra seats and is more comfortable driving. (The car is also 5 years older than the 370z) However, none of these facts can prove if one car is better than the other. They are commonly compared against one another, but they are truly two different animals and built for two different reasons. The RX-8 is a great car and you can never get the butter smooth acceleration and the whine of the Renesis from any other car. As far as the auto-x comment, I have seen 350z and g35's run better times than the rx8 and vice-versa. (This is all dependent on the driver)

No offence guys but the new 370 is a much better car than the RX-8. I love all odd vehicles and something different but the 370 is a good sports car. It revs well, the handling is good and it sounds great. The RX-8 lacks the power to compete. Mazda needed to come out with a true mazdaspeed turbo version. I'm 90% sure that everyone here would want to trade their 8 in for a factory turbocharged version and a lot of ex 7 owners would jump in on the new 8 as well. That's why the MS3 sells as well as it does, it handles good and has good power.

The 370z may perform better overall, but this does not mean it's a better car.

Do you like a driver's car or do you like a dragster's car?
Your pick.

The results of Motor Trend's "Best Driver's Car" competition. Nismo Z is roundly spanked by the MX-5 Miata. Oh, snap!

Z scores below average in every category, while the MX-5 scores above average in every category and loses only to the Cayman S.

So? Both RX-7 and RX-8 would get spanked by the MX-5 Miata in that category. Heck, I think the Lotus Elise might've gotten beat by the Miata when it comes to best driver's car. If all you care about is pure driving experience, then you've got wrong Mazda. If you want driving experience and backseats, then RX-8 is right. If you want driving experience and track performance, go for the 370z. Don't fool yourselves, the Z isn't a Crossfire, it's a full fledged sports car.

I'm only trying to rabble rouse.

I don't care how well the Z performs, quite frankly, because I think it's ugly as **** and have no interest whatsoever in buying one. Short of offering me Ferrari performance in that price range, the Z just does nothing for me. I passed on the 350Z to buy my RX8 because the 8 is just a better looking car, and in the end, that is what is most important to me. So, when comparing the 8 to the Z (either 350 or 370), I simply like the RX8 more, thus it's the better car in my opinion.

On the track performance means literally nothing to me.

Yesterday I drove past the new GTR, black wheels, new with no plates. I felt its presence. It's awesome.

I felt something that I can recall feeling when I saw a red RX8 with dual resonating exhaust snaking its way around the parking lot somewhere in 2005.

When I see the 370Z I go like "nice, another little fancy car" and I go about my business.

The GTR look to big to me, i like small cars but not small like the mini or the miata. Just remember something. The bigger, the harder you (fail)? ohh its fall... my bad.

Nice one yeayeayouwere, one picture is oh so much more "to the point" than all us wingnuts trying to express this lol? Although not a proper RX-8 vs. 370Z illustration....but rather MX-5 vs 370Z...it shows (IMHO) that Mazda makes drivers cars, yea great sports cars in fact, while Nissan makes... well... the picture says it all (but a few more pics can't hurt)

Truth be told, I don't know how the RX-8 would stack up in that lineup. I'm guessing it would not do very well at all.

But it does drive home the point that numbers can only tell you so much about a car. I checked out the full article last night, and as expected the MX-5 gets absolutely thumped in every performance category, but yet look at how highly it scored in the 'fun to drive' category. And I really trust the Motor Trend crew a lot more than any group of schmucks from some import tuner magazine. I am sure that a high school sophomore would rate the Z as way more fun, but I'm not sure that's really even a point in its favor!

To me, there is just so much more to a car than it's horsepower numbers, track times, and capacity for rapid acceleration. Those things are nice, of course, but they're just not the whole story.

In the end, the right car is like the right woman. She just has to have it. And since it is different to everyone, we'll never all agree on the same car. But to me, the Z just doesn't have it and the RX8 does. That's all I really need to know.

Just saw a 370z on my way to the gym... The taillights are hideous. It didn't help the dude's vanity plates read "1 hot z"
