He already said he's been to driving school, which is more than can be said for most here. At least it's not his first car right?

It's already happening, nothing you guys say will keep him from getting his car, so quit being lame-asses and congratulate him!!!

Have fun with it man, and my advice, if you have to have an auto, go with the Z. If you can get a manual, get the 8.

Your attitude reveals your age. Nobody here is rooting against him. Whatever happens will happen. The opinions of those on Rx8club are not gonna change anything. However, since all of us have been 17 before, we have a unique perspective on the subject that you won't be capable of wrapping your brain around for a few years now. Nothing personal dude. My first car was a 350hp '66 Cuda. I had no business owning a car like that. I was the "good" driver out of all of my friends but it didn't stop me from wrapping it around a tree in the rain. It could have been worse. I learned something though: there's no substitute for real world experience. Track time is nice, but not to many intersections and onramps out there.

Good luck to the original poster. Whatever car you get you'll love it. Keep it on the road and don't let your passengers dictate your driving habits.

Steiner, I think you need a hug.

You bitching about all this makes no sense, all you're trying to do is get him down, which is ridiculous. Tell him to be careful all you want, but being a dick and saying he shouldn't have the car is plain dumb. I don't get your 17 comment either, I'm 20, which means I've also been 17 before. Go have some fun or something, you need it.

Not true, I'm 24 and I know that I am often about as mature as a 7 year old!

now you're trying to look MORE mature by saying you aren't mature.

I've never seen a teenager on these car forums or anywhere else for that matter that doesn't say they are mature for their age. They also all say they are excellent drivers and not like the rest of the teenagers out there. I also think that the maturity displayed by some posters in this thread is almost certainly below that of the 17 year olds...

We all know it's typical and that most of these youngins just don't know better. But that's no reason to get on the kid, maybe he and his parents will learn the hard way, maybe they won't. I just don't see the need to make snide remarks and not answer his questions <shrugs>

Not sayin that at all, but there's a big difference between being antagonistic and educating someone.

Of course you know what I'm talking about. You're the number 1 fanboi in here. How in the world is someone going to nominate me as a fanboi? A fanboi for Racing Beat?

Well said. You da man!

The attitudes expressed against young drivers here is like racism. Some perceptions about a group may be true, but it's wrong to paint the INDIVIDUAL with the same broad brush. I'm 54 and I'd be the first to accuse a lot, maybe most, young drivers of being idiots, but I lack the arrogance to accuse "rx-7~rx-8" of being one of them, without having met him or read more of his posts.

I attended Panoz Racing School. 350Z and RX-8 are dogs compared what I have driven over at PRS. I avoided many wrecks from other peoples stupidity one of them being a middle aged man driving a Lexus SC430 switching lanes w/o checking his blind spot. I went into the shoulder or else the idiot would have hit me. If he had hit me most of you on this forum would have thought it was my fault because I am 17. Few of you say the lamest crap on this forum about age and sport cars. If i get the RX-8 6-speed. If i get the 350Z auto. 350Z is made for auto and RX-8 is made for manual. 350Z is a fast car. RX-8 is a drivers car.

-today I saw a Black FD(RX-7)... I almost drolled from the looks of it. It had a cf hood, nonflip head lights, and a sweet sounding exhaust.

I've noticed Age is always an issue on this forum. I just turned 24, but if I could get a nice car like an 8 when I was 17 I wouldn't hesitate. I think he's pretty responsible for actually being able to save 7g's.

Reason iI prefer a 350Z in auto, do to its power delivery it's designed for a automatic. Whereas, RX-8 is made for manual, rolling gears thru high rpm's. Then I don't what it is, but I like t he 350Z in auto for some reason. The RX-8 I like in manual for some reason (iI think its because of that cool rotor shifter).

Both are incredible cars with out a doubt, especially since there in there 2-3 year of production the little issues should be solved)
