I just test drove the 350Z, I love that car. I test drove the auto and also drove the auto RX-8. I have to say the RX-8 is more enjoying to drive. The 350Z power is to damn nice tho and fun. I am 17, so I will wait til i'm 18 to get one, probably December.

I have to say the 350Z is a incredible car to drive and own. I would like to get the RX-8 since it cheaper and more enjoying to drive, but the mpg sucks.

I just am so damn happy to drive a RX-8 and 350Z. I'll probably put 7K down and my parents will finance the rest for me.
Can I get a idea of how much a RX-8 payment would be and 350Z payment.

I give either car less than a month before you wreck it. What kind of parents would buy a teenager a 350Z or an RX-8? I know guys in their 30's that have no business driving around a car like that. I hope you're mature for your age.

I agree the 350Z is a nice car. I went to my Nissan/Mazda dealer with the intent of buying the 350Z, but I test drove a just-delivered RX-8, and I was hooked. The 350Z has oodles of power, but the RX-8 was more balanced, had a smoother transmission and shifter, and rode the road like on rails. I could live with the 350Z but prefer the RX - most car enthusiast magazines agree.

My guess is your insurance will be twice as high on the Z, when compared to the 8. Something to think about, if you'll be paying the premium.

I very much hope you get the 350Z so you can witness the POS literally fall apart inside and out (especially the inside) in less than 2 years under your watchful ownership.

Steiner I feel what your saying but dont appreciate you saying rubbish things. I attended Panoz Racing School, which taught me how to drive high-performance cars. I am mature for my age, but then again old people do the stupiest crap when i'm driving trying to race me n shyt. I've driven many cars, I do a share of stupid crazy stuff with car on the track and local drag strip, but not on the street.

Oi, I don't see good things in this thread's future...

Do you plan on getting an auto or 6 speed RX-8? You said your testdrove the AT 350Z but didn't mention what you would want to purchase.

If you were to get a total price for the vehicle of around 30k, you put down 7k, and your parents get a decent rate the payment would be in the are of $450 a month for a 5 year term.

I hate it when this stereotype is thrown out everytime someone young taks abvout getting a car like this...its not fair........however.....as a parent, I wouldn't allow my kids to drive a car like this or support buying one. Unfortunityly the statistics are against the 17-19 year old demographic.....add to that night driving with more than one passenger and the statistics get scary.

I don't blame the kid for wanting to get a nice hot fast car...I blame the parents for getting a kid one...this is not the way to teach responsiblity. If the kid has 7k then he gets a car worth 7k ...and the parents make sure that the car is safe in regards to the condition of the car.

Auto RX8 is a dog, If you get auto the tq. characteristics of the 350Z are a bit better for acceleration. But the real comparison should be a RX8 vs. Infiniti G35 coupe. 350Z has no back seats, not to mention the extremely poor quality of the materials.

I dont really care what the "statistics" say. Fact is I'm a pretty good, and even more importantly, a safe driver. I'm not out to impress my friends with my driving skills, nor am I trying to win any races on the street (if thats what I wanted to do, I would have gotten a wrx or or a Z for sure). The rx8 is just plain fun to drive, looks great (unlike the wrx IMO) and is also very practical considering. I really dont find it THAT fast, especially in comparison to my moms v8 jeep grand cherokee (no hemi).

Getting a 16 year old a car like this is a really dumb idea, but for someone who has had almost a year of driving experience its completely different.

In cars like these, manual is a must. You have so much more control and its just a ton more fun. Plus in the rx8 you will have 30 some more horses to work with

I used to hate it to when I was younger too. But you know what...stereotypes get started for a reason. I know when I was that age I was ALWAYS telling everybody older than me how good of a driver I was. Looking back, that was a such a crock of ****. There were so many things I wasn't even perceiving on the road and there's no way you can without a few years of experience behind the wheel.

I don't blame the original poster. I blame his folks. Parenting is about setting boundaries, not being your kid's "buddy". Whichever car he gets I wish him well, but I stick to my ealier statement that the car won't make it more than a few months without getting into an accident. Well said. The kid gets flamed because he is here and it is convenient, but the kid is not to blame at all. What 17 year old is mature enough to turn down a car like that, and say "No Dad, I only have $7000, so I'll get a $7000 car. Or if you'll match my funds, a $14,000 car. Once I have more driving experience (and money), I'll move up to a more expensive, higher performance car." Not many.

Parents who make bad decisions deserve what they get. Unfortunately, many of them are setting themselves up for losses on their investments.
