Data logging would depend on what you are using for an ECU to control the engine. It would probably involve a laptop that is connected to the ECU.

I don't know much about aviation, but I do know that at max rpm the prop tips will be going supersonic and not working for you anymore. Are you going to use a 2/1 or 3/1 gear reduction on the engine output?

I have book smarts. I can speak intelligently with out knowing anything at all. The closest I came to being in aviation was when I worked on the avionics for Airfone.

Welcome Edgar,

From your Avatar I can guess you're building a pusher? Is this going into a Velocity or something a little older? I'm looking to get my sport pilot cert next year - I've been an EAA member since '99, and a rotary enthusiast since '01, so you're really caught my attention with your post. Do you have a website for your build?

Yes I am using a redrive for the 20B, max speed is about 3000 rpm the redrive is made by Real World Solutions, they are also making the EFI, they do a lot a work with auto conversions engines. The few items that are the fuel injectors and such, the system has 2 EFI for each set of injectors, that way is one set fails during flight other set will run until at least you get on the ground, The bird I am building also has a very good glide ratio of 18 to 1

Good Guess sorta, my dream was to build the one of the Velocity models but they have decided to stop selling the sub-kits dishing out 55 grand up front for just the kit is a little hard to get pass the wife or anybody else, I have redrawn the kit from a cad program so it looks like a Velocity but it's not, I decided to call the Lebed Project Lebed ( Russian for Swan) since it will fly high and extremely long distance 110 gallons of fuel and doing this @ about 10GPH at 230 Knots which is about 264MPH at about 20 miles per gallon. Now those are for no wind level flight but do the math

Turbo for the 20B Lebed Project

I have some numbers for a turbo but as far as I can tell these are for a 13B, I am in the process on getting the right numbers from Turbonetics out of Simi Valley, I sometimes work in the area so I will do a stop-by and speak to someone there as soon as I have some numbers I will pass it on..... My guess is reliability. You would hardly notice if ONE of the rotors began losing compression because the other two would power through. Redundancy is important in aviation - especially experimentals.

@AL, I WISH I could go to Oshkosh. Things will be different when I can fly myself and camp there. Those Cubcrafters Cubs are pretty awesome, and have definitely caught my attention...

OP, I've heard good things about Real World. Too bad the Velocitys have become so expensive. You can almost buy a completed one for that price (high 70's) Keep us posted on your progress, please!

Thanks for the words:)

One thing I found one thing about Velocity models, sure they are in it to make money, but after doing my design which has many of the things that Velocity except location of landing gear and will be a pressurized, but the dimensions are almost the same I can do my including molds for around 18,000. Including molds so go figure, so it makes you sorta wonder what is really the profit margin for an aircraft where they have the master molds another point I am using Carbon and Kevlar with very little e-glass, no foam honeycomb, which makes it lighter for a bit bigger ship than Velocity
