Well, as soon as you have some in your dealers inventory, stuff the trunk full of Mazda parts, and grab 4 coworkers, and video the results for us. Tell us how awful the car really is, so that we all know not to buy one by accident.

"In its first full month of sales, the all-new 2016 CX-9 accounted for 1,904 vehicles sold in the month of June. This number represents an increase of 21 percent YOY, making it the CX-9‘s best June since 2013. Signature and Grand Touring trims continue to be in high demand. Mazda expects the sales trend to continue as more inventory becomes available."

I never pay attention to SUVs since I'd never buy one, but I didn't realize how expensive they've gotten. Holy crap!

The only issue I have with the 6-cylinder is the complexity Mazda has - several 6cyl engines have 3 or 6 catalytic converters with the same sets of replicate air/oxy sensors to maintain that performance and emmissions. Several friends have spent hard $$ to replace them over the car's lifetime. Makes the RX-8 seems cheap.

497 sales here for the last 3 weeks of July sales since new CX-9 launch, best month for CX-9.
Make the 1904 (in US) look a little weak on per head basis.

Mazda 2 still selling well here in Australia against Mazda CX-3.
1200 a month for the Mazda 2 and about 1100 for CX-3 (from memory).

So much for the O'Sullivan saying the CX-3 would kill the new Mazda 2 sales in the US if the 2 was still sold
there...I guess Mazda can't now the iA is sold in US?, they could bring back the Mazda 2 hatch.

MNAO needs to do something fast to stop hemorrhaging of US sales numbers for 2016.

Mazda CX-3 sold 1499 units in July, which beat the Mini Countryman (1422), and is nipping on the heels of the Nissan Juke (1568).

But, when you compare its sales against the Scion iA (3007), it's literally HALF.
In fact, out of the entire subcompact class of cars, only the Yaris and the Prius C sold less cars than the CX-3 did. The starting point was the sales of the iA.

Mazda reported 2243 sales of the CX-9 in July, the best since March 2013.

The one thing to remember when it comes to the CX-9.
It's a cash cow for Mazda.

$31,520 for a FWD Sport is the bare minimum.
$44,015 for the AWD Signature.

There is a whole lot of profit between these two price points, and remember, they will sell more AWD Touring and Grand Tourings than they will FWD Sports.

I hope they more of these than they can project in sales forcasts.

$31,520 for a FWD Sport is the bare minimum. I wonder what the uglier honda pilot or CRV come in for FWD only version?

They can easily sell the hatch in the states, it's already approved and being sold in Puerto Rico (non-state US territory)

love what they did with the styling, it's quite the looker.

hopefully long term reviews are favorable.

My wife and I went to test drive one late on Saturday night.
We test drove a Sport, the first one to arrive in our area, and we liked it, but it didn't make me want to trade in the CX-5 right there on the spot, however.

From the drivers seat, there doesn't feel to be much if any physical difference in the size and weight of the CX-9 versus my CX-5. You feel right at home, you know where every corner is at immediately, and you're ready for anything from commuting to work, or pitching it through the local twisties.

What I did notice is that the steering is a little less responsive than the CX-5 when you just start to initiate a turn, and the body takes longer to lean over and take a set when you pitch it into curves or a roundabout (I have a ton of them here in my neighborhoods).

Really nice seats and interior, just a smidge too soft on the suspension (needs to control sway more, for my tastes), and I love some of the features that come on the car.

The rear loading height is way too high for one of my dogs, who has rear hip issues. The CX-5 is much much better in this regard, so for all you people with older dogs, this is a consideration.

If something happened to the CX-5, and Mazda doesn't bring a Signature Series CX-5 (or a version with the turbo engine), I would most likely upgrade to the CX-9, because it is nicer than my 2014 Touring.

What I did notice is that there isn't a huge difference in the acceleration between the CX-9 and the CX-5, and Car & Drivers numbers back me up:

CX-5
Curb weight: 3564 lb
Zero to 60 mph: 7.7 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 23.0 sec
Zero to 110 mph: 31.0 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 8.0 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 3.8 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 5.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 16.0 sec @ 86 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 120 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 175 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad*: 0.81 g

CX-9
Curb weight: 4336 lb
Zero to 60 mph: 7.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 21.3 sec
Zero to 110 mph: 30.1 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 7.7 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 3.6 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 4.9 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 15.7 sec @ 88 mph
Top speed (gov limited): 133 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 179 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.80 g*

Good job Mazda.

Now go get me my signature series CX-5 with the turbo engine.

BC.
