Thanks to VW, I don't see you guys ever getting diesel from Mazda for a long time...

Interesting comment by a reader on No V6 for new CX-9.

Mazda can make their own V6 (Skyactiv) if they wanted to, instead of using inefficient Ford's which will never happen again....
We will see how the 2.5T will go in the real world (looks great on paper, I just wonder how it will hold up with 7 people and or trailer, 'reliability wise')...still believe Japan has made a big mistake, they need their own V6.

Exclusive: Mazda pulling out of minivans- Nikkei Asian Review

Noticed in this article about Mazda ending production of minivans, Mazda's plans for a seven-passenger SUV based on the CX-5 by 2018. Hmm.

And it will interesting to see if Volvo's gamble also on a turbo-four for its seven-passenger XC90 SUV will also sell.

Driving Matters....wow...what a 'fabulous ad agency', half the time (money) is spent on the story of nothing...why not 'Sell the car' (model)..what is it, etc, etc.

And they get $350 mil for this...

BTW: You guys know that 'someone' wants to put on (add) a 35% import tariff/tax on all new cars and parts imported into the US !!..
I guess that would also include all cars from Mexico...talk about 1970 again!...that had a great result, not, the making of unreliable, shoddy, ugly cars because 'the industry' was 'protected', same here in Australia, why would any local car maker upgrade plant and skills.

Lets put up the barriers/walls around everywhere......again.

Sorry, can't agree with you on this one.

These "Driving Matters" commercials are the best thing they've done in nearly forever. Granted the bar is pretty low, but these commercials are way better than the whole comparing SkyActiv technology with Thomas Edison, or bikinis.

You know what happens when I return from a long business trip?
I look forward to getting into my car, and driving it again.

So, I can relate to these commercials, and like them.

Subaru has the market cornered on puppy commercials.
Honda has cars driving out of the backs or people's heads.
Dodge has two men from the 30's stealing old Farmer Bob's daughters.
Chevy has idiots in focus groups who think their crappy Malibu is a $60k car because they took the badges off.
Fiat has the groundhog getting belted across the face with snow from a 500X.
Mitsubishi has a Ninja selling their redesigned suv (okay, that one is awesome, but I like Ninja's).

Holey crap, I completely forgot about the whole Toyota Prius car chase thing going on right now.
How did I forget to include that pile of crap as a proud example of high quality American car commercial know-how?

So, honestly, Mazda's not too far off the current quality of competing commercials.

I've had more people talk to me about mazdas since the new commercials. I think it's working. I suppose they choose me to ask questions because I own a few.

While the "zoom-zoom" stuff was pretty cool, they seem to be approaching a different market now. Once the sportier cars come out (my fingers are crossed on mazdaspeed3 & 6) I believe they will up the ante on the "driving matters" commercials

We as 'car enthusiasts' know what the brand is about, the average Joe looks at that and says what is it, oh just some Mazda, what are they trying to sell that the car is a 'Drivers Matters car', yes, but what is the car?
Most people want to know what they are being sold, model.

And so far this year in US, the first 2 months of 2016 this is not translating into sales over the same period of 2015...what are they 4000 units down, already. (memory)...actual 4,674 down in 2 months.

IMO I believe they could get better value out of the $$$'s they spend.

I am not 'trying' to run you guys down, it is my opinion and I look at what happens here, YES, the US can be different from others, here they (all makes) only advertise models when they can supply.

And I get Mazda in US are trying to differentiate the 'brand' from the main stream of cars and go 'up market' in USA (old news, that was announced 4 years ago), I just believe it could perhaps be targeted better.

Just what Mazda doesn't need...another freakin' SUV. Mazda already lost most RX-8 owners to another brand, I'm sure they could care less about losing Mazda 5 customers as well. Mazda putting all their eggs in 1 basket will eventually backfire on them.

While I agree with you mate, people are not buying enough of them, all car makes are heavy into SUVs, even Bentley are making a luxury SUV, it is what is selling, even though many of us dislike them.

The Mazda 5 (Premacy) only sold well in the US (it is a world car).
Mazda 8, sold in JDM and Thailand/HK was OK for a while, but now is also discontinued.

I am hearing (my parts dealer manager) (believe it or not) that the Mazda 3 will die within the next decade after one more generation (as we know it now), with a SUV type as it's replacement.
As silly as this sounds for many new car buyers it is a race to the top (the SUV view) without being swamped around you with small trucks (SUV's), everywhere we drive.

the same here in EU.

seems that people likes only SUV's in every size and shape. MPV are absolutely disappearing. No good sales also for sedans (expect for expensive and "driver oriented" ones)

Just a quickie on Ads (as I see it), IMO way better than stupid "Driving Matters" (shake head)....

This translates into what matters and 'how' the consumer would get the 'matter'....
Way better and it is selling the brand and MODEL, it does both and in half the time.

Just wanted to add that as far as Jan and Feb car numbers- the entire US market had a horrible January. We had tremendous snow/ice storms etc that pretty much shut out the car market . Some were seeing rebound in February when Jan would be purchases became Feb purchases. But again it was the mid and full size CUV/SUV that saw the uptick and not the small and mid size range cars.

re- the CX-7not a van thing to replace the Mazda 5 /Premacy. Im ok with them calling it and shaping how they want- as long as its about the same size as our Mazda 5 and has it's sliders on both sides It really already is a sort of tall Mazda 3 Wagon so if they want to shape it more like a CUV go ahead just give it the ultra practical sliders

Yep and you guys are in winter, and yep you get snow and yep it was a very bad one...
as it was for all car brands, some other car brands are having higher units sales so far this year when compared to 2015. If Mazda can't do it now (major breakthrough) they never will without a complete rethink.
The new guy should make the changes needed.

My point was it gong to be very difficult for MNAO to make up, the 5000 (sales lost) extra units to equal 2015's full year. So they are going backwards (again) if they can not...I hope they do.

CX-7 ? huh, I mist that one Charlie.
Or is it CX-4, a lot of talk it will be only for China and sold in., it exists (seen about 4 pre-production ready units) but only in/for FAW China?
I am having trouble seeing where this thing slots in anywhere except China, it is a CX-5 platform in size just re-designed skin and new interior.
Would not be surprised if the CX-4 is the actual CX-5 replacement within 2 years, remember Mazda did say some models will not go normal 8 years before a gen or major change, CX-5 is already 4 years old and looking a little tired up against CX-3 and new TC CX-9, but still a great seller.

Mazda and their marketing genius are showing a 2015 CX-9 Grand Touring model at the Twin Cities auto show here in Minnesota.
Why on earth would they not use a high profile event like this to start marketing the next generation CX-9? There are hardly any 2015's left on the lots.
BMW had the M2 on display, Chrysler the new Pacifica, Buick the new Envision, Infiniti the new QX30, Alfa Romeo the QF Julia and even GMC had the new 2017 Acadia.

Mazda NA needs to get their act together because they have a great product but are showing a lack of ability to sell it.

Actual TC production started exactly 4 weeks ago, the ship should arrive US very soon.

But yes, they could have aired over a show model, there are a few of them.
Who knows they possibly had one ready, it could have been damaged?

I still believe it will be the new CX-5...soon.

In fact the top out CX-9 model has more in it than any other SUV on the market today apart from a big engine.

THE proof will be how Mazda in USA actually sells it and 'how'....so far I have little faith.

Not really, the highlander my wife bought last year (top model but w/o the platinum package) was 44-45 MSRP. And I think I remember reading the Pilot gets up to the same level fully loaded.

(I couldn't talk her into the 2015 CX-9, it felt old and heavy compared to the Toyota)

Yeah the price of some SUV's is nuts. My prents bought a Nissan Rogue but wanted a Highlander and the one my mom wanted was over 40k.

The Land Cruiser starts at $83,000.00. Nukkin' Futz.

I just bought a 2009 47k AWD V8 Infiniti FX50 with Tech Package and 5/100 warranty in the 20s. No 3rd row but... Osiris Reflash, awd Mustang dyno tuned at 347/323
