2014 MY..All new Mazda 3 .. pic leaked..(Japan)
and yes that is a HUD
The 2014 Mazda3 also is the first vehicle to feature Mazda's all-new Active Driving Display, a clear pop-up panel that displays vehicle speed, navigation directions and other important driving information, and is vertically mounted behind the meter hood. This feature not only places necessary information comfortably in the driver's line-of-sight but also directs the display beyond the instrument panel, more in line with where a driver's eyes are naturally focused. The Active Driving Display panel will automatically fold back into a hidden position when the ignition is shut off.
Jalopnik just posted up the MZ3. A lot of mixed opinions from the readers. I'm not sure if I like the rear of the new MZ3 since the rake looks strikingly similar to the ugly Mitsubishi Lancer. Everything else I love. The grill looks great, but not so much with where they are plating the license plates. I would prefer the plate mount to be under the grill on the CX-5 and 6.
The interior looks like it is a notch or two above the CX-5 and even the 6, which is unfortunate because us early buyers are shelling out ~$32,000 for the 5 and 6 with interior finishes and features that are inferior to the new 3 that is only one model year newer. Look at all these additional trim pieces that include piano and metallic finishes in comparison! The gauge cluster and the heads up display! The revised infotainment system!
The infotainment system looks like it got a (much needed) significant update from the turd Sanyo/TomTom modular unit that is now available on the CX-5 and 6. Practically an Audi MMI system since the volume control is next to the main control **** in the center console. Perhaps the screen is bigger than the turd TomTom 5.8" also? The interface looks different in the picture, so I hope the software/hardware isn't **** slow any more.
I also hope the U.S. model doesn't get cost cutting in the most obvious areas. The international markets get the command control for the CX-5 while we got a ******* cupholder. International markets get illuminated window/lock switches. We got "guess and click the wrong button at night" switches in the U.S.. There are other misc. things that are too long to name also.

The third-generation model, on sale in the United States this fall, will be introduced with a choice of two gasoline engines: the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter and SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter. An all-new human-machine interface (HMI) system also will make its debut. This in-car infotainment system is meant to broaden the scope of the driving experience, and was designed with ease of use and safety as top priorities, as well as ensuring the driver's focus remains on the job at hand: driving.
The 2014 Mazda3 also introduces several all-new safety systems under the umbrella known as i-ACTIVSENSE. These technologies use sensing devices such as milliwave radars and cameras to support the driver in recognizing hazards, reducing the possibility of collisions and minimizing damage should accidents occur. While these systems will not eliminate accidents, their intent is to minimize them and reduce the severity of a crash. New safety technologies for the Mazda3 include a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) and Smart City Brake Support (SCBS).

Yes, there is a 2.2 SA-D for new 3 for Europe, Japan and Australia, and possibly later in the USA.
Although Mazda are set to launch a SA Diesel in North America, they are having issues with diesel fuel quality around the USA, some states are fine, others not so.

Like hood to engine height clearance, passengers head to roof header clearance, rear collision, frontal collision, side collision...it ain't easy trying to be different.
I personally feel that the new Mazda designs are by far the most beautiful the company has ever produced. It's not even close. They've finally moved up a notch in the automotive design world. They and Audi have the most beautiful cars right now. Everyone else is just average. I am in love with the new 6 but I won't get one unless it has a diesel in it.
Nope. They are super tight lipped about anything Mazdaspeed right now. If I were to guess based upon budget and what we currently know about Skyactiv, they would probably be considering a more powerful turbo diesel #Skyactiv as Mazdaspeed.
Paul.
Paul.
Still jealous at the fact that this cheap compact sedan packs much more goodies/luxury than the CX-5 and MZ6 (for now).
