Has a vague Subaru Legacy look. Maybe an Audi looking rear?
Overall, I like it. Looks like there may be blind spot complaints from the C pillars. |
I'm more curious for the sedan pics. I'm not a hatchback person, but that doesn't look half bad.
|
Sort of looks like a cadillac wagon to me, not that bad yet not that great.
|
I hope the rear looks better in reality so it won't look like:

Not bad at all. Still have to see the real deal...
|
Doesnt look bad, just looks like a lower CX5 to me which isn't a bad thing. The dimensions look a bit funky to me IMO, the rear looks relatively huge for a vehicle the size of a mazda 3 but we'll see soon enough
|
Yep, got to agree entirely..
I would still like to see in the flesh, drive it and then give a real opinion.. |

I would imagine it to be quite an exciting drive if it has the monster SkyActiv-D while being lighter than the Mazda3 it replaces.
I love the butt of the first gen MZ3 five door. Good proportions, great aesthetics, and lots of space without the sloping rear hatch. |

The new 3s will be powered by the 2.0 and 2.5 Skyactiv G engines so they should be quite thrilling.

I expect we will see a diesel Mazda 3, as there has been (and still is) a 3 Diesel model sold in Europe and Australia for many years now.
As it will be the end of MZR engine (Ford) once also the new MX-5 comes out, I would expect to see a 2.2 Diesel Mazda 3 and it may be called a Mazdaspeed 3... oops...now there is a scoop for you. BTW: Don't be surprised if we actually also see the new MX-5 with a SA-D diesel engine option, Mazda have said no, but, I think they are trying to divert away this attention. |

spider's drive and diesel don't fit each other.... |
BTW: Global reveal of new Mazda 3 is July, (2013).
|
Mazda is watering down that design. Their SUVs, 6 and now the 3. UGH...
|
Beg to differ with that statement...
|
how is it watered down?
|
I dont think you will see the 3 deisel in NA (market I was talking about above). They already have the 2.0 & 2.5L gasoline so unless its in a speed I dont see it happening.

It will compete with both diesels and hybrids for fuel economy, and offer a better driving experience than the low end German vehicles, like the Audi A3, for significantly less money. I'm looking at the Audi A3, and the VW Jetta, both in FWD with their diesel engines, or even the Jetta Hybrid car. People who buy those German cars for their fuel economy, but want better long term reliability, will probably be quick to switch over to the Mazda 3. Those who want the driving experience or the interior quality will need to get a test drive in before they are truly convinced. If Mazda puts the SkyActiv-D in the Mazda 6 and the CX-5, they will also put it into the Mazda 3. It will greatly increase their fleet fuel economy numbers, and give them conquest sales to steal from VW/Audi instantly. And trust me, conquest sales are the most important numbers to a smaller car company, like Mazda. Retention sales, not nearly as much as you would think. BC. |

Off topic - SayNO2 - do you own an rx8 and an Elise? I love that car - Enterprise use to rent them in select locations, and I took one for 2 days in Florida once. If I didn't live in the city, I would love to have a gently used Elise as a second car.
|
No I don't, though I have driven many varieties of Elises, Exiges, and Esprits. Both stock and race prepped. A good friend owns a "performance shop" that is an authorized go-to place for Lotus'. Awesome fun little cars. Though I would HATE to daily one. That specific yellow one is actually an Exige S 240 with a very expensive set of ($4,500+) Moton Sport Club coilovers.
