Still.... I'm debating ....
To me a car is a car, unless if it's too low to take out, then maybe that day i'll stay at home.

I've seen people drive NSX, 911s, AMG, ///M cars in winter. Hell there is a guy who bought a 09 GTR just for winter.

RGB colors. Someone at Porsche is a nerd.

I really don't like Porsche's. Not because they're bad cars (they're great cars, sexy too). but because every middle aged balding man and his dog owns one up here. There are probably more Porsche's in the bay area then RX-8's by a good margin. There might even be more of them then there are riced out hondas with fart cans.

Maybe I'll understand when I'm a middle aged balding man

Daemos, the problem w/cars and winter is, and esp. for a car like the RX-8...if you want to do alignments, work on the car, change stuff out underneath, winter really locks up the nuts and bolts quick. Then yoiu'll need a torch and hacksaw to get them off /loose just to do routine stuff (if you're lucky and not have to takle it to a shop). Bummer.

Here's a hint...it's the hair lost making the Gs to buy one of those suckers - that's called a reward lol, but yea, a Porsche is a status symbol, lost virility replacement, chick magnet, perhaps more than one at the same time too I guess.

.... except for those that track them...then it's just the absolute best tool for the job, which makes perfect sense if not dollars, regardless of how much hair he/she might have left at whatever age.

LOL I'm not balding (just good genes), but I'm certainly middle aged+... and yes, you will understand.

Haven't had any problems yet.

But I also at least try to wash out my under carriage one every week or two weeks.

=)

winter isn't too bad if you know how to take care of the car during winter. One of my friends uses anti-seize on all the under body nuts and bolts, just so he doesn't have to worry about washing his under body every so often. It works, come spring time all the bolts come off without any hassle =)

New England winters (and especially this one) are very tough on cars. It's not the snow but all the sand & salt seemingly necessitated by today's litigious state. I can barely see the paint color on my Jeep right now for all the salt spray (it warmed enough yesterday to really douse the vehicle), and very little chance to wash it as it has snowed every few days for most of the past two months, including today.

In principal I agree that the '8 (or a Cayman) is just a car, but I would still hate to subject it to these conditions.

I can assure you new England winters are not nearly as bad as the winters we get here =)

we get temps of -50C with wind chill and easily over -35C without windchill. Not to mention it's easy to get a couple feet of snow on the ground over night (although we have very good snow removal crews here)

There's no doubt you get more snow and colder temps, but I dare say we get more sand & salt spray. Two days ago we didn't need a jacket outdoors and today 6" of new snow and teen-temps! Continual freezing/melting/freezing cycle is actually more detrimental (sand/salt spray and pot holes as well!!!).
