Will someone please tell me when Piquet will stop sucking? It makes it even worse because he used to talk about how other F1 drivers sucked and how great he would be once he got a race seat. He had a full season of testing and the winter in order to not suck. Hamilton didn't have this opportunity and he doesn't suck. Glock only had the winter and he isn't that bad. Nakajima had limited test time last season and he has finished races and scored points. Why, Piquet, WHY?

Too true...I don't get it. I can only assume the kid is too much of a 'head case' to perform well in F1 races. He's not been too bad in the last few practice sessions but he's there to race.

Speaking of Kaz Nakajima, he's not looking too bad as of late. I thought for sure he'd be a stop gap until Hulkenberg got up to speed. Now I'm not so sure.

I actually missed the first 10 laps of the race but I caught a snipet of his accident in a highlight later. In his defense, it doesn't look like it was his fault. For some reason Bourdais didn't see him. At least that's what it looks like to me. As for Nakajima, I knew he wasn't so bad from the little I knew about him in GP2. He is an aggressive driver and will fight hard for positions. He will get faster in time.

As for Kovalainnen, didn't Hamilton have this exact same problem last year? I remember his rim failing to at a race later on in the calendar last season. Maybe McLaren should look into this and change the design.

I can't believe Nico's motor popped. I was so sad to see that happen, it would have been 2 cars in the points.

was his the one that blew pretty much in front of the pit lane, but on straight a way side? for some reason i cant remember who car had gone down. .

I found this bit to be pretty interesting:

“As you know, Prodrive walked away,” he continued, referring to David Richards' outfit which had won the coveted 'twelfth slot' at a time when customers cars were to have been allowed. “That was going to be the McLaren B team. It was going to be Red Bull running with Renault, Williams with Toyota and Aguri with Honda. That makes sense to us because there was no way we could go and develop our own chassis and be competitive.”


Hmm, this comment alludes to an order of things that must have been agreed upon at one time. Up to now the customer car debate has been framed as a few rouge entrepreneurs trying to come into F1 by circumventing the old Concord agreement.

After reading the article I wonder:

Did Williams and Toyota have a falling out over which would be the #1 team?

Did Spyker get too greedy last year and kill it for themselves? (they were the most vocal critic of Aguri and STR early on)

Would Renault, Red Bull, and STR have linked up as A, B, AND C teams or would STR have been spun off to Berger and then linked with BMW where he has close ties?

IndyCar star hoping for a 'proper' F1 test

Honda's F1 Chief Executive Nick Fry has offered to open talks with Danica Patrick about a test drive in the near future.

The 26-year-old American said late last month she was 'dead set' on eventually joining the Grand Prix circus, following her recent breakthrough win in IndyCar.

"We haven't instigated anything, but if Danica wanted to be test driver then we'd be more than happy to talk about it," Fry is quoted as saying in the British magazine Autosport.

Patrick said she would consider any offers of a 'proper' test drive, after turning down a run in the BAR Honda at Indianapolis in 2005 because she feared it was a mere 'publicity stunt.

"Every driver would love to drive a Formula One car at some point in their life, so yeah," she said.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with a real, proper test."

I seem to remember a comment made during the Spanish GP broadcast about someone saying that they didn't think a female had the strength to race in F1.
This is still a "publicity stunt". She has only won one race in IndyCar. Others have a better record and haven't received a test.

She, more than anything, is the reason I can't take IndyCar seriously. Looking past the obvious weight advantage, she is also a pouty little bi*ch. She finally won a race after all these years, and now all of a sudden she thinks she's good enough for F1.

Why do you think so many IndyCar stars(the ones who are competitive) have left the series at the first opportunity? It certainly wasn't because they had an opportunity to win where they were headed. I bet the drama queen played a part in their decision.

agreed. she wouldn't make it past the first test in F1. she's a semi-talented circus.

also she is only good at ovals. Street courses is where she falls short. maybe some one should remind her, that F1 race tracks has no ovals

I think a lot of people forget or don't know, she raced in Formula 2000 before getting into the Indy ranks. They definitely race on road courses.

true anielsen, but back those days, she was ok also. in indy she is ok on the road courses. its the oval where she does really well. but that is just me. I know alot of indy fans that know thought Bordai would do awesome in F1, because he did really well in champcar . but Mr. Bordai crashed twice (driver mistakes ), hasnt finished a race this season.

but i do hope she does well as a test driver. but i just have to be honest, and i feel she couldnt hang with the boys in F1 IMO.

but its evident in indy car she is ok or just average on the road courses. its the oval where she does really well.

Just what Honda needs, another overpaid under talented driver. Have they learned nothing from their recent lineup?

I remember her saying that she would not want a seat in F1 because living in Europe would put her too far away from her family.

Yeah, I don't want a seat in F1 cause it gets really hot in the cockpit and I just can't stand to be dirty and sweaty.

I think she got a podium in the British Formula Ford festival years ago which is pretty stout. That said it is just formula Ford.

BTW...Where's Katherine Legge this year, DTM?

Just thought I'd point out that JPM was a fairly competent F1 driver and it's not like he is king of the oval over in NASCAR. I love F1 and would rather watch golf than NASCAR but I don't think you can categorically say that F1 drivers > NASCAR.

The problem with the Danica @ Honda is that they already have a great roster. The UK loves Button, Barichello is one of the most experienced on the field, and Wurz is a fantastic test driver. Where does she fit in at Honda?
