2007 Montreal F1 - Grand Prix du Canada
The GP yesterday was definitely action packed. Robert Kubica’s crash definitely taking the honors for most violent. This is the craziest thing I have seen in F1 in a couple of years (even worse than at Indy last year, which I was sitting right in front of). Kubica’s BMW left the road180mph+ and that head-on crash will surely make you cringe. He is still in the hospital, but apparently only suffering a concussion, a sprained ankle, and a possible broken leg. I can’t believe he survived, because his racecar sure didn’t.

Adrian Sutils was also living up to the Spyker aviation heritage in this interesting jump:

It was a great race. Plenty of reject worthy performances between Alonso's serial misses at turn 1, Massa and Fisichella being black flagged, Trulli and Rosberg's synchronized spin, Trulli running into the pit wall, and both Spykers hitting the same wall consecutively. Kubica's crash was the most violent in recent history, Hamilton's win was so controlled and looked like he had been doing it for ages, Heidfeld put in a great run and actually was the 2nd fastest car on track, and Sato put in probably the best performance of the afternoon with what is up to now the pass of the year on Alonso.

Very exciting and action packed, for sure (as far as F1 goes). What a dissaster for Ferrari.
Maybe I missed something, but why did Massa and Fisichella get black flagged, when Alonso only got a stop-and-go penalty for similar infractions?
I'm glad Kubica is ok, I read he walked out of the hospital this morning and is expected to race at Indy next week. What a scary looking crash.
Good to see someone other than McLaren/Ferrari on the Podium. The BMWs have been pretty quick this season, it was only a matter of time before one of them made it to the podium.
Can't wait for the U.S. Grand Prix next weekend at Indy, I'm Going! My First F1 race! Wahoo!

The race was on Fox. Massa and Fisichella were disqualified since they exited the pitlane while the light was red for getting back on track. Alonso was penalized for stopping while the pitlane was closed. In my opinion the punishment was too harsh, a stop and go would've been more appropriate, but I guess the stewards wanted to put their foot down.

Takuma Sato in the SUPER (best friends) AGURI passing the reigning WDC was the highlight of the F1 race.
However, the race of the day was Casey Stoner winning the Catalan Moto GP Grand Prix over Valentino Rossi by .06 of a second.

What a great racing weekend for watching racing! I definitely feel bad for Speedsource. I remember sitting in my chair cringing when Syvain crashed, that looked awful. Cause: broken front suspension, he turned the wheel, car didn't turn, went straight off into the tires. I was more angry about the #69 getting spun by that !@#$@#$ Banner Pontiac. I saw the LimeRock race and Banner definitely has a fast car this year, but the drivers leave something to be desired.
Lewis winning the F1 race definitely brought a tear to my eye. First black to do a whole host of stuff in F1, fantastic. I hope this brings more diversity to the sport, heck, maybe I'll be out there someday. That Kubica crash made me sick to my stomach, but applause has to go to the design of that car. The driver cabin was completely intact and the rest of the car disintegrated to dissipate the energy. Think about that, you hit a concrete wall @ 180mph and get a sprained ankle and concussion, bravo for the racecar safety designers.
In my opinion, Alonso should have been black flagged for those misses on turn 1. He went off, the RETURNED to the track right in front of the race traffic. I was yelling at the TV when he did that TWICE!! Talk about stupid and just plain reckless, he could have crashed half the field on one of those.

New angle Kubica video is up (taken from the grand stands).
Better representation of how fast he was going when he hit.

Heh, he personally referred to it as a beaver though!

“It is such a shame about the beaver. It had it in for me for sure! I was running in third place at the time, behind the safety car.
I was on a clear, one stop strategy and it damaged the front wing. I couldn’t even see it at high speed and I could not understand why suddenly I locked up the front tyres and so I had to come in to the pitlane.
The guys were taken by surprise in the garage when I came in, but they were really on it with the race strategy after that, telling me to overtake the safety car to get my lap back and it was a really enjoyable race at the end.
I hope Kubica is okay because I saw the accident from the other side of the road. The race was complete carnage from the word go and I'm just happy to have made it to the end.
I equalled my best result and it is great news for the team who did a great job today. I was out there on the option tyre, realised there was lots of graining and reported it to the team.
I came in under the safety car to change the tyres and before Taku had even done any fast laps they knew to change the tyres back to the prime and the tyres paid off. It was really good team work so I am extremely happy.”

It is already one of the most diverse sports on the planet (I assume soccer/football is the king), especially in motorsports. Most other major nationalities and races have already been represented.

Alonso squeezed Massa in Spain and then couldn't keep himself on track, all Massa did was hold his line. Did you expect Massa to just stop and say "well go right ahead there mate"?

my bad then. i couldnt remember what was the reason why he missed the first turn. i just remember him leaving the track then coming back . but to answer your question then nope he did the right thing . my fault for not remembering the details of what caused him to do what he did. thanks for the info.

The FIA has been forcing youtube to remove all of the videos of the race (that were broadcast) as they claim they violate copyright infringement laws. Only those videos that were actually filmed by spectators are allowed. The FIA has become nothing more than whiney crybabies the past few years and they just keep getting worse.

Rotarygod,
Even though the FIA makes Youtube take the F1 videos down initially, someone usually posts them again a week later where they often remain for a while.
