My friend is getting a new one and was telling me that it does a 0-60 in 5.5 but im calling BS...any specs on this?

Never seen anything about this. It has pretty much the same supercharged 4 banger as before? If so, that thing was nowhere near a 5.5, that was more like 7.5-8.0.

I dont think so...he is a compulsive liar...he said his rsx type s did 0-60 in 13.2 and after an exhaust and intake it did a 12.7

 

The new C230 has a V6 this time around. I don't have any performance numbers, but here's some simple specs from the Benz website:

MSRP: $29,975
Engine: 2.5L 24-valve V-6 engine
Net Power: 201 hp @ 6,200 rpm
Net Torque: 181 lb-ft @ 2,700 - 5,000 rpm

Here's some more info I just found on the website:

Acceleration: 0-60 mph in 8.0 seconds (manual) 8.5 seconds (automatic)

A 2.3 liter 6 cylinder?.. not likely. Maybe a C320.

Ummm, You mean 1/4 mile. 0-60 in 13.2 is really weak. I can run 0-60 in that amount of time.

 

Yeah that sounds about right. It weighs ~250 lbs more than an RX-8 and has less power. No way IN HELL it would be below 6 seconds 0-60.

Most people aren't too bright. They hear "Mercedes" or "BMW" and immediately think rich person's car. They have no idea that some of their models are inexpensive and not very powerful.

I remember some guy saying that his friend had a "Beamer" and I asked him which model and he said he didn't know. I asked him to find out and he asked "why, aren't they all the same". Hmmm. Remember the BMW 3.18? That thing had a starting cost around 18k and had a 0-60 time in the high 8's (from what I remember). Yeah, that's basically the same as a M3.

 

The c class sucks... Tell him to save his money and buy an E class..

 

Add two seconds to each of those times and that'd get you in the ballpark of RSX-S numbers. A 13.2 is waaay too fast for a stock, or even well modified, RSX-S. They run slightly slower 1/4 mile times than the RX8 (low 15s on average, high 14s with a good driver for the Acura).

 

thats just the typical dude think to do, can't get mad at him. plus you have an 8 so anyone you know will probably round down the numbers to think they're in league with your car. let them lie, we know the real winner.

 

Mercedes = Worse reliabilty and a softer suspension than most Hyundai, at a higher price than most BMWs.

 

Yeah, i showed him the numbers, and he was like "O"...lol...thats all he had to say...gave me a good laugh

BTW...he was a previous rx8 owner and thinks they are slow....thats fine, but considering what he has driven...he just keeps getting slower and slower cars
