1st Gen Miata Tail/Dash Light Problem

not sure if i'm in the right section and i'm only posting on here since there's a few rx8 owners who have miatas as well but...

my buddy was trying to add in another trunk light in addition to the stock ones.

removed battery. spliced one wire from led to red wire and other to black. checked and saw lights worked. mounted everything and made it look pretty. double checked to make sure nothing was knocked loose..... and now the tail, dash, and new lights don't turn on.

brake lights come on when you push the pedal, turn signals work, headlights work. we thought it was a fuse but it doesn't look like any of them blew. which ones should we be checking specifically?

and what could've caused this?

Just because the fuse doesn't look blown does not mean it is not. Replace the interior fuses anyway.

The Room fuse sends memory power to the ECU when the ignition is off. No fuse - no memory....
