I was referring to the NA's which were as much as my budget could afford me at the time I was looking. I didn't mean to put them down, I really like them and the turbo's are indeed very fast. The NA's are not really slow, just not really fast either. Bottom line is I could have had a turbo II or a turbo supra for a lot less money and either of those cars would be a lot quicker and easier to maintain as a daily driver than the porsche.

A 944 S2 has about 220hp. It's just as fast as an RX-8. I know a 968 (evolution of the S2) with 240hp and equivalent amount of tq is a 6 second car to 60mph. That's already faster than an rx-8. But whatever rocks your boat.
I'd get an NSX anytime. But insurance is a killer even for a 91 model. while the rx-8 is billed as a 4 dr sedan has much lower insurance.

$8000 did sound pretty high, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was accurate.

Buying exotic cars is like having kids. Don't buy or have one unless you can afford to maintain it.

Don't get me wrong. I loved my Integra. It was a very reliable car. When I traded it for my 8 it had 150K miles on it, 110K I put on it in four problem-free years. However, I could afford to fix anything that could have gone wrong on that car. If I had bought a NSX, and something major did go wrong, I would have been hurting to get something like that fixed without taking out a second mortgage on my house. :D

It's all about perspective. To me it was safer to go with a new RX with a warranty. If I could afford a new NSX complete with a warranty, perhaps I would change my tune.
