1989 Honda Civic 30k original miles
Hey guys...times are rough and looking to save money...I am about to buy a 1989 Honda Civic with 30k original miles. Thats right 30k original miles. For $1000 bucks. The exterior has some scratches but the interior is near new and it runs great. What do you guys think or have any of you had any experience with an older civic?? Thanks!

My nieghbor has one. He commutes 75 miles each way every day. He is on his second engine with over 250,000 on the chassis
The had a couple electrical gremlins, nothing a new wiring harness cant fix.
Other than that they are a 30mpg cruiser that will last forever

fwiw i had an '85 with 325,000 miles on the original motor.... it had been rode hard and oil seals were shot so it drank oil, but it still got good mileage and ran like a beast(for what it was). when i got rid of it after a year, i think it had around 365,000-370,000 miles, still ran the same....

What condition are the rubber pads on the break and gas pedals? With only 33k miles they should look almost new. If they are all worn out that may be an indication of a messed up odo. As far as the numbers lining up, I believe it's OK for thhem to be a bit off, especialy if they are about to turn.

well i wound up buying the car...i bought it from a private party who it was handed down to from a deceased grandmother....the outside is horrible supposedly she was a bad driver and lived in queens. but the interior is mint and the car drives great...i really do believe it only has 30k...im just gonna do oil/trans fluid/coolant and hopefully its a reliable daily driver
