Joe,

Something else you might want to do is go to the very same traffic court your trial date is set at and sit in the audience. See how the Judge acts, look for similar “good drivers” ands see how they are dealt with and act. You might even see the same cop and try to work a deal out with him to reduce the points. As for the on going discussed on Auto Insurance there is no such thing as “fair” or “Logic” when it comes to NJ Auto insurance. With the most people per square mile of any state in the union the NJ auto insurance mess is just a refection of the State. Florida has Hurricanes, California has earthquakes, and NJ has sleazy politics and insurance.

80 is sever head trama.

90 is possible loss of life

100 is a closed casket.

or...

80 is $300 fine.

90 is $400 fine and very high rates.

100 is $$$$$

FTR, in California, 100 get's your car impounded, fines about $500, court fee's about $1000, attorney fee's $3500-$5500 5 points and a possible suspended license.

Have a nice day

I wouldn't complain if I were you. If you're insurance company knew how you (claim) to drive, they wouldn't insure you for any amount.

I skipped reading through all of these replies...The Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. About a month ago it was printed in the ledger that they were going to crack down on speeders. Something like hire 300 more cops to patrol those roads.

It's your word against the cops...probably going to have to get a lawyer or consult and reduce to reckless driving 250.00 plus court costs and the tickets. Either way your looking at 2 points.

Squid: A rider whose skills don't match the capabilities of his bike and rides in a manner likely to result in an accident.

It's a term that any experienced rider knows well.

BTW, the braking distances for motorcycles don't come close to those of automobiles, a factor you might want to consider if you're doing 100+ mph at night on a sportbike.

Sure there isn't that much difference at all....

Hmmm....if you were going 75 and didn't act like an assclown punk, you probably would have just received a warning (as the cop that tailed you would have obviously recognized your superior driving skills at 20 mph over the speed limit.)

Instead you drive 100 (or is it 90 now), you try to convince the cop that you are actually Micheal Schumacher, and that 90/100 mph is a walk in the park for you. How dare the cop not believe you? When you go to court to try to save your license, you should also tell the Judge about the cop's "attitude" when he pulled you over. After all, the Judge will realize what an excellent driver you are.

So, by showing just the slightest bit of restraint and saving your high speed adventures for the rack track rather than the public roadways, it costs you nothing (read $0.00)

But because you're such an excellent driver and feel that you can do as you please on the public roads, you are now looking at losing thousands of dollars (read $1,000.00's), not just now, but until this fades from your driving record.

No, there isn't that much difference:D

NJ VC 39:4-99 30mph over speed limit is an automatic 5 points.

Yea, I heard that somewhere too. Your price quote sounds a little lower than samsons.

Pardon me if I'm somewhat skeptical that an experienced motocross rider would never have heard the term "squid." Good luck, son. You may want to consider switching to a larger car to hold that ego of yours.

I have heard the term, but we don't use it that much out here. EGO??? You appear to have the ego. You call me a squid? Far from it.

100mph in a 55? I did 135 in a 55 in a Mazda Millenia S a while back

why is this discussion still going...if everyone really knew how the insurance companies work to lobby low speed limits...you'd all shut the hell up

I got a 96MPH ticket a few years ago...you know what I did? I went to the DA fought it and it was turned into nothing

Did I learn a lesson? no...just that I should have bought a damn Laser Jammer

rant complete :p
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!! Watch out for drunk drivers a MUCH more dangers threat

I've seen this happen alot on internet forums. Someone takes a quote from someone, then argues a point that the taken quote IS NOT arguing against. It has already been done numerous times. You are arguing with an idea that you created. Why would you do that? To satisfy your own ego. I was arguing that there is not much difference safety wise.

While were on the topic.

I've gotten a 93 in a 65 on the parkway see this thread
https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/well-i-just-pulled-teenage-driver-33066/
My first words to the cop were "im sorry it just got away from me", in a legal sense admitting my guilt was the dumbest thing i could do.

But you my friend are a bonified moron.

If you notice the last line of my first post is i know i was wrong etc..... You’re at page 10 and you still haven't done as much.

If you go up to the prosecutor and say i wasn't doing 100 i was doing 90 he'll do one of 2 things.
A)Lower ur ticket to 90mph and so now you have a 5point ticket or 4 im not sure because in NJ anything over 29mph is considered a reckless driving ticket which is 5 points.
B) Tell you to go to hell and the judge will take away your license, he'll be here shortly.

When I went up to the prosecutor and said that i wasn't quite doing 93, he said "I can prove every MPH of that and the Judge will probably take away ur license". I was the 2nd guy in line you should have seen the looks of the people behind me, it was classic. Then he cursed and said, "Now you little ****, go to the end of the line and come back when you know what you want to tell me".

So I went to the end of the line waited another 50mins, came back up to him gave him my name he said "o yes you, what do you have to say now". I hit him with I'm sorry i was speeding and i deserved the ticket. He lowered it to 74mph, and my insurance didn't go up because my first 2 points are freebies, if i get another 2points though, it adds the pervious 2 for a total of 4.

My advice to you, stop thinking your right, because your not, admit ur wrong to the prosecutor and to us for that matter, hope that you caught him on a good day and get it reduced to a 4pt. ticket.

O and considered urself lucky if i was the primary on the 8 i would be paying 5000 something, but instead im a primary on the car i never drive(1990 accord), yet im still paying your 2900 a year, from your attitude I’ll take a guess that im a better driver then you too :-p

Brutal!! Joe...you made you're bed, now sleep in it. It's really all very, very simple. The LAW is posted along the road. You break the LAW bad things happen. Not trying to add insult to injury!! I wish you luck. But, take responsibilty for the decision you made to put the foot down. I speed every now and then, I am prepared for the day I get caught.

Good luck.
