I wonder how much these Wedsport wheels would cost.

Honestly, I don't know much about materials, but isn't CF prone to cracking? If so, wouldn't these things be a very expensive headache?

I would assume these would only be used for a couple of laps in a time attack.

It all depends... they're claiming it as a somewhat newish technology and I'm guessing they have to make it up to a certain standard... especially to avoid a lawsuit of any sort. I'm not up to date on the technologies so I dont know if this could avoid these issues... how new is this concept? Anyone more informed able to help explain the process they're using?

Very awesome, I want....

Then I think about the wheels shattering when they hit something.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK!

probably as expensive as buying an entire new rx8.

curb rash will result in the wheel needing replacement no doubt.

hitting a pothole that would usually give a regular rim a dent will totally kill these rims.

think of how much care is put into the removal of the CF driveshaft on our rx8's... in the service manual one sentences spans 6 pages.. "OMG FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T SCRATCH IT!"

There's a note on that other forum that projected it at 3k a wheel. If this pans out and it's as durable as most current wheels and weighs six freakin' pounds then they'll be hard to find even at that price. Everyone on the planet with a tracked car will be after these things.

Lots of ifs there tho.

With all the CF overlays today, I'm surprised someone has not done it yet. Cheaper with the look and not the worry of cracking a wheel.

You would only see these on a serious car. Any other car with rims appearing to be CF would be deemed as "fake cf stickers." Any serious car wouldn't rock rims with overlays. Therefore, cf overlays on rims = rice and the real deal = $$$
