09 Infinity G37x

So I bought an 09 Infinity G37x (awd version for those who don't know) and have these impressions of it so far.

First off, it smokes the 8 in almost every way. Power, obviously. 330bhp delivered through an incredibly smooth powerband.

Finish is also better interior wise on the Infinity. Less road noise, less vibrations and road noise. I will give overall imaging to the 8 for the interior, however the tunnel for the driveshaft on the 8 isnt as well designed.

Exterior is a personal taste issue, I put them both about equal up to the rear fenders, where the Infinity has better lines. Taillights intigrate more with the body as well then the 8.

Suspension is a bit of a toss up. I like the more sporty suspension that comes with the 8, however the Infinity does provide more confidence on back roads if you arent pushing it to the limits.

I don't have Nav in my 8 to compare the two, so I won't try. All I can say is that the Infinity Nav is very good, with the one drawback of not being able to input addresses while moving. Even as a passenger. Direct Ipod control is nice, and charges while you use it.

Being as these both were in the same market when both were originally released, I have to say the improvements between the G35 and 37 were much better then that of the 08 and 09 RX8. I think that more effort should have been put into the powertrain on the 8, and slightly nicer materials used for the panels of the interior.

I knowing that this is an 8 forum, this review will probably recieve alot of criticism, but I am merely stating what I see from owning both cars.

You spelled "Infiniti" and "integrate" wrong.

Oh and the G37x is an overpriced, underpowered, heavy piece of junk.

sorry for any typos lol i was in a rush to finish some work. And to Yax, exactly how is 330 bhp with 28 highway milage underpowered? No 8 NA has come remotely close to that lol... I got the two door AWD version in a 6 speed. $38k out the door. Having the car just makes me feel so bad that Mazda hasn't made more of an effort

Gotta love ricer math...almost as good as magazine racing.

The only difference is that the 3.7L in the g is a production engine...and last time I checked, there is no production 3.7L RENESIS to compare it to, so that ricer math just wont work.

38k for it is not that bad, its a great car, have fun with it.

It all depends what you look for.
if you are not looking for fun and performance, then good for you to give up the 8
But for me, the 8 is good.
Performance? pretty good
Fun? A lot
Engine? Smooth,
oh one more thing, not much car can compete our corner speed and that high RPM for $27000~33000 car
Our 8 is one of the best handling car in its class

you said you paid $38k OTD for the G37x

i paid $25k OTD for my 8, back in 2004

i sure as heck hope $13k buys you a WHOLE LOT MORE CAR than what the 8 offers

and no they're NOT in the same class.

Well, I figured I would catch flack for buying it lol. For the record, I still have my 8. And the original G35 was in the same comparison class as the 8 when both originally debuted. Infinity and Nissan moved their cars to compete with faster cars, the 8 opted out of the competition. I don't miss the rear doors, because A) i still have them on my 8 lol, and B) those rear doors are more of a problem then good when say... parked in a crowded parking space in a parking lot, which is usually the case for me. I appreciate that some people just love their 8, but I may get rid of the 8 in the next year or so just because it isn't as nice. And btw fully loaded with everything when my GT 8 was bought, it was $32K for 232 bhp. I just paid 38 for 330bhp. Im content haha

And for those who don't like to listen to reason, the G35 IS faster around almost every track
