M-ster...the car is body kitted right? If it is..it should be me. My rears are red covers..but front is a 6 pot brake calipers with big rotors . Painted red with Mazdaspeed wordings sprayed on

I sodeysnay! Ha, of all the calipers i only check your rear ones! Should have check out your Front 6s man! I didnt notice your rotors thou. so r the front brembo? shape like it...
i guess the rear kits are not available rite? otherwise you would have them up there too....

M-ster..I done it at Yap Brothers...it is OEM for trust brakes. Only for the front only...

Rear brake kits are a bit more complicated. Bought both front and back AP race spec calipers but have problem setting up the rear ones. Our handbrake mechanism are incorporated into the rear calipers. As most brake kits do not cater for the hand brake mechanism, we need to cater and addition mechanical brake caliper just for the hand brake use... Otherwise, the best bet is still to use the "Brembo" cover to match the aftermarket front calipers.

The first person that caught sight of that white was cuscorex and i managed to see it in the flesh (metal) at geylang with the owner eating durian.

That was probably the ultimately low point of my day but with that I got over that bump on the road and got on with working and looking out for new ideas and poisons. :D

was down at leong seng yesterday, saw a MM blue 8 fixing on new set of volks and sticky(AD07) Sweet! Is the owner on the board here?

Yeah that was me M-ster. A previous post in this forum sparked my interest. Even though I was convinced I wanted Volk SF Winning, after seeing the Volk LE37T's in gunmetal with AD07's installed, I was hooked. These are slightly used rims and tyres, but not a scratch on 'em with plenty of tread. Here's a couple of pix after I got home

I have had my eye on the AD07 for a while now.... saving more $ to change together with the rims. But some friend discourage me of getting that as the 07 generate alot of road noise! care to share your experiences? Anything you wanna share in terms of grip and drive, also the road noise bit...

Yes, the AD07's generate more road noise than the stocks, no doubt, and I expected that. But once I left the lot with these puppies, it's like a whole new driving experience. Hard to describe....but where I felt reservation with the sloppy RE040's in the turns, the AD07's take that away. Turning is now tight and responsive and the ride is clean and sharp. Other tyres may do the same with less road noise, be interested in hearing others opinions.

After I got the rims installed, I went up to Class Auto to install an active (self-powered) sub in the boot. I was thinking of getting a four channel amp, but towkay convinced me to save $$$ and get the powered sub to increase bass response (I had already replaced the stock speakers with Polks all around a couple of months ago). The Mazda HU delivers a clean signal, just needed the extra bass boost in the back to compensate for road noise...and it works.

So....better wheels, better sound, better ride....happy man

Thanks for the your comments and reviews, I've read about the 07, and i just love the tread design, i know too that it will generate more road noise (I'm sure i can get use to a little more road noise), just not sure to what level. M thinking of getting a set of sway bar too, if can change all together, the 8 should be creaming thru corners! :p

That would be awesome M-ster! Let me know what sway's you're considering, I'm sure I'll be in that market soon too for the extra rigidity. The stock 8 is a fantastic cornering machine, but with better rims/tyres and the sways, even more fun.

I'm considering either US's Racing Beat or the Aussie's Whiteline. RB is more expensive, but Whiteline cost more to freight over, thus work out to be of little different with RB being a little more expensive.

There are a lot of Japanese tuner's brand available as well, but there isn't much read ups about them, so then to go with what i can read about on this board here.

M-ster, I've read that Racing Beat sways are excellent and much cheaper than Mazdaspeed. Also read that Tanabe make a good set for 8's with stock shocks and springs. You considering a new strut as well?

Good post Mugo. I haven't lowered yet, but after even a few days with the Volks/AD07's I'm certainly considering. Glad to hear yer happy with the RE040's...I just couldn't get used to them in the corners. As you say, especially when it's wet (as we often get sudden rain) then it's slow down or doom. I hear the 050's are much better in the wet, but hard to find, especially used. Yer definitely right on the AD07's being difficult when cold, they're a bit too hard until up to temp. The 040's on the other hand are more forgiving when cold, but my experience is that when I really wanted them to perform, I didn't get it. It's all about trade off's and dependent on driving style.

IMHO, 040s are way under-rated. No doubt they have poor wet performance and they're not really that fantastic in the dry, to top it off, they're not cheap. There's a distinctive quality about them most reviews fail to mention. Predictability. On dry they're predictable. They ALWAYS behave the way they did the last time under the similar conditions. They make the right noises, scrubs, groan, wails, then sharpens in pitch until it gives way completely. As for wet, they are always predictable as well. GO SLOW. :o

Oh yeah wanted to add: P Nero Zeroes... Not cheap, well not on my list becos its not value for money IMO.

For sure...my feelings exactly. I'm thinking of just staying with the stock front strut and going with the Racing Beat sways, at least initially
